Wonderful Ride!

Except...the turnpike took away the sign to Key West, and closed a couple of ramps, so I ended up in a not-so-nice section of Miami!

I finally got directions back to I95 from the only one who looked as though he could speak English...a Louis Farrakhan look-alike(complete with weird BOW TIE) who was giving out newspapers on the corner. He directed me back to 95 which just ENDED and became Route 1 in Biscayne Bay. Then there was a huge traffic snarl due to an accident. I scooted off Rt 1 and headed west to homestead, finding the Turnpike and proceeded to the Keys. It was on the 20 mile straight that goes through the Mangroves that i saw the sign “CROCODILES CROSSING”. That just made me laugh.

When i got to my destination, we all went for a swim, had a few beers and some shrimp, and then I went home.

The return trip was uneventful.

The Irish part of me burns, and the Indian part of me tans, so I now have a lovely, painful tan.

What a GREAT Day!

I guess I’m not happy unless I am “overcoming” something!

I can't remember where the extension to the Fla Tpke kicks in - haven't been down that way for many a long year. The extension would have taken you out to the edge of the Glades and away from the congestion and mayhem of Miami. I used to drive the stretch of Dixie Highway - US-1 - between Dadeland Mall, at S.W. 82nd St. every day to downtown Miami and back home in the evening. It was a bear in the late 70's and early 80's - I can't imagine what a mess it must be now!

It kicks in just north of the intersection with I-95. I was down there a month ago for the coldest weekend of the year to hear a chamber music concert in Palmetto Bay.

So sorry to hear this, Kathy. I hope your IT people can find a solution soon.

We had a patch yesterday afternoon where our software crashed. We'd reboot, get back in and code a few documents and then it would crash again. Extremely frustrating - we have a production deadline coming up this week. Today was better, thankfully.
