Rick Santorum: ‘It Would Be Suicidal’ If GOP Embraces Gay Marriage
Business Insider ^ | 04/09/2013 | Billy Hallowell, The Blaze

As conservatives continue to grapple with how they — and the Republican Party at large — should handle the issue of gay marriage, some prominent voices are coming out to either endorse or condemn pushes for the movement to embrace same-sex nuptials. Among those personalities is former presidential candidate Rick Santorum.

In an interview with the Des Moines Register, the politician said that embracing gay marriage would be “suicidal” for the party. The former senator also noted that some Republicans, like Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois, and Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio, who have openly endorsed gay marriage are no different than those politicians who parted ideological ways from the party over the abortion issue in the 1960s and 1970s.

Former GOP presidential candidate and former Sen. Rick Santorum said: “I’m sure you could go back and read stories, oh, you know, ‘The Republican party’s going to change. This is the future.’ Obviously that didn’t happen,” Santorum told the outlet. “I think you’re going to see the same stories written now and it’s not going to happen. The Republican party’s not going to change on this issue. In my opinion it would be suicidal if it did.”

Santorum went on to note that speaking about how best to communicate messages is fine, but that transforming “foundational principles” is another story — one that could prove problematic for the GOP.

“Just because some of those things happen to be popular right now doesn’t mean the Republican party should follow suit,” he noted.

The GOP is rotten to the core!!

This club will embrace, kiss and enjoy rolling around in the hay with the sodomites. Their business is gaining more seats in Congress period.

They’re so damned stupid they don’t realize that negroes and Mexicans will NEVER vote for them en masse.

“If GOP Embraces Gay Marriage”

Too late. The Whig Party has already embraced suicide.

I hate to give the Rats credit for anything since their goal is the enslavement of the American people through a tyrannical govt., but they are succeeding. They have a 2 pronged strategy to achieve this goal; first, expand their base; second, shrink the Pub base. They are pushing the normalization of illegal immigrants to build their base and SSAD Marriage is the means by which they will destroy the most reliable voting bloc in the Pub party.

SSAD (Same Sex Attraction Disorder) Marriage will be the end of my ever voting for Pubs again. In their rush to reach the left they are undermining the Judeo-Christian values that are the foundation of civil society. We are falling into Gomorrah and I'm not going to support it. I know that all these "tolerant" liberals (Pubs included) will be shocked when they discover that living like barnyard animals means you will be treated like a barnyard animal, but by then it will be too late.

GOD help us all.

If this doesn’t split the Party we are all doomed - I can see the Tea Party transforming into a true political party - and we take the Ted Cruzes, Sarah Palins, and Colonel Wests with us.

‘It Would Be Suicidal’ If GOP Embraces Gay Marriage

IT will be suicidal for the GOP and they WILL embrace gay marriage. What does the GOP stand for in 2013 - can anyone tell me? Don't say small Government after Boner and the boys funded 2013 at a higher level than 2011.

The GOP is every bit part of this problem as the RATa are.

Quote from the DebatePolicy forum - "Sequestration doesn't cut anything! We will INCREASE spending 7% instead of 9%.

All the politicians are screaming about how terrible the cuts will be in sequestration.

Just one problem: There aren't any.

For the last four years (2008-2011), we have increased govt spending an average of 9% per year.

Santorum....“Just because some of those things happen to be popular right now doesn’t mean the Republican party should follow suit,” he noted.

SSAD (Same Sex Attraction Disorder) Marriage will be the end of my ever voting for Pubs again.

Good for Santorum, but allow me to suggest that when we "vote for the team" as Santorum has done, and as I have done, and have others have done, we end up getting a Romney who was totally in the gay camp so far as I remember.

And Santorum and the rest of us ended up supporting him. I had my reason....Benghazi...which Romney ended up turning coward on...so I was proven wrong.

I'm also correct that the Constitution Party ran an absolutely stupid campaign for the presidency when they should have been running Goode for his old congressional seat in Virginia.

But, I agree, Wm, if the GOP officially endorses gay marriage, then I will depart. Departure only makes sense if I have the moral courage to actually begin working with an alternative political party. Otherwise, I'm just putting my head in the sand.

The reason the Dems support Gay Marriage is because the GOP oppose it, so if the GOP would support Gay Marriage then the Dems would oppose it

Suicidal in a spiritual sense, as well.

Thank God for at least one voice of sanity.

my wife and I have attended Tea Party functions. Overall I've been less than impressed. My experience at these events is they are long on rhetoric and short on practical application. We will continue to contribute to conservatives campaigns and to vote in the primaries.

I supported Romney and thought he would be alright, especially compared to the alternative. I suspect that a majority of those conservatives that did not vote did so either because he was another northeast liberal pretending to be a conservative, or because he is a member of a fringe religious cult. Now that we see the Pubs collapsing I will probably be in that camp that won't vote for a party candidate in the general election unless I'm confident they really are a conservative.

Agreed. The Republican party is no longer raising men one can entrust to govern our public affairs. In fact ALL of our public officials whether Democrat or Republican are bankrupt. They will turn us over to governance by aliens, Sodomites, drug addicts, money grubbing nonentities and any other foul and low thing.

Our pastor began a sermon series on marriage last Sunday, and, as expected, a major portion of the first sermon was on the impossibility of same-sex "marriage," not to mention the illegitimacy of the heaven-barring activity of homosexuality itself.

He related the instance of some young women who came to as him some questions after an a previous service. The "questions" were almost cut-and-dry talking points of the homo-Left, not genuine inquiry. The pastor has fallen into the erroneous belief that young people are almost wholly Bible-illiterate, especially when it comes to sexuality. Nothing can be further from the truth. Largely uninformed in the scriptures, yes, but EVERYONE who is even tangentially involved in a biblical church knows that homosexuality is condemned, and the basic reasons it is.

These young women DIDN'T WANT TO ACCEPT the biblical position; it wasn't that they were ignorant of it.
