North Korea 'finishes missile launch preparations' and warns foreigners to evacuate South
NORTH Korea has completed preparations for a mid-range missile launch from its east coast, officials in Seoul have revealed just hours after foreigners living in South Korea were warned to quit the country.
North Korea's Asia-Pacific Peace Committee said in a statement monitored in Seoul that foreign nationals should find out in advance where they can take shelter as well as examine evacuation plans to leave the country.
"We do not wish harm on foreigners in South Korea should there be a war," said the KCNA news agency, citing its Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee.
The remarks come as the communist country has repeatedly said it will turn Seoul and Washington into a "sea of fire" and launch pre-emptive nuclear attacks against its enemies.

“Could” is the operative word here. When the NORKS blow one of these off they have no clue where it will end up. I wish one would land in Bejeing and then maybe the ChiComs would jerk lil Kim’s chain.
And that is different from now.....how?
Expect the 479 S Korean managers to be expelled tomorrow. The 4 Chinese managers will stay on with maintenance crews for the annual spring cleanup.
The 53,000 NK workers and their 100,000 family members will be quite busy doing spring planting.
The SK workers posed a major security risk for the NK Second Army Corps.
Sat photos show that all four army corps reserves mobilized for combat exercises over the past few months have turned in their weapons to their local Ministry of Peoples Safety on 1, April and went back to work gathering fertilizer for spring planting.
Worker and Peasant Red Guards have to grow their own food. Sat photos show they did not carry weapons and backpacks in the fields or in the streets after 1, April as they are required when mobilized about 1, February. Now they are all carrying shovels and hoes.
When mobilized, the Guards relocate to caves and tunnels in the mountains, and now they have gone back to garrison.
Remember, the DPRK are absolute experts at incitement and propaganda. The S Koreans often deliver translations of NK statements that are not accurate.
NK statements always have a backdoor way out that lets them walk backward from hardline statements. That rarely comes through the SK translations.
Posters about self defense have been replaced with posters about the economy.
American special political constituents and leaders of the ‘80s, ‘90s and present time hated the generations of our parents and grandparents and displayed a hysterical and illogical fear of the unlikely possibility nuclear exchange resulting from international relations of the ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s.
The same political constituents and leaders have no problem with the much increased likelihoods of nuclear exchanges that they’ve brought to us, as they use questionable tactics in efforts to distract from such concerns. They’re more worried about freight fuel prices than the continued survival of our countries.
Hey Tiger I saw Freepers fave NK babe Pyongnang patty she is working patrotic speech on BBC world news ROFL
Probably 24 hours, give or take a little time, and counting from there, according to Pyongyang’s comments to foreign diplomats. As it is shortly before 2:00 pm (14:00 hours) Mountain Time on April 9 now in the USA, it’s shortly before 5:00 am (5:00 hours) Seoul time on April 10. Tomorrow or after, sometime. Could be as early as shortly after midnight, tonight in Seoul, perhaps?
6:13 a.m. Wednesday morning in Seoul right now....
Highly unlikely....
Shared a room during corporate training with an ex-submarine naval person from the UK. He said when the technicians were performing checks on the firing mechanisms, an officer held a loaded gun to their heads. If true, now that was work pressure.

Interesting article regarding US/S. Korea preparations. Worth a read.
Sorry guys, that quote in the article was taken from 2009 and plugged into a recent article.
No problem.
However, they have to do something after so much rhetoric, or his grip on power would be threatened. There could be lot of domestic political infighting in Pyongyang. Lately, their rhetoric is way over the top even for NK standard.
Backing down from it as if nothing happened would damage his political credibility, sowing serious doubts on his leadership.
I think this time around China did lean on NK. NK cannot count on automatic aid which allow them to survive. They can deal with no aid from the West and SK. It is not the first time. China used to fill the gap. This time it does not seem to be the case.

I thought those guys preferred to be deployed in the rear.
Thanks for the ping and the article link. Will definately read.
After talking with nuke submariners about generalities, the last I heard about a nuclear launch off a Trident was close as the movie portrayed. However, the end credits claimed protocol had been changed to only the President to authorize a nuclear launch.
I and they laughed at that because it has always been so. No captain of a Trident has ever had unilateral authority to launch nuclear weapons. Still, a good movie. Not sure if the lack of comms (partial flash messages) could create such an incident. I tend to believe that we have so many fail-safes, as not to start a nuclear war.
I sleep well at night knowing those Sailors are manning the tubes on our Tridents. Bombers can be blown out of the sky; ICBM's can be intercepted (if we have any left), but the Tridents are patrolling everywhere, and know one knows where they are. THAT is what keeps the world balanced. God bless, our Trident submariners.
Not surprised. Given that and much intel about North Korea, I am still surprised that the generals haven't orchestrated a military coup against the Jong family. Think of how better off their nation could be if they just put a bullet in Fatboy and his followers (which are probably few).
Why western civilization doesn't do it, I can't comprehend. I'm sick of the protocol that you don't "assassinate" the leaders of nations, rogue or otherwise. What if we had the opportunity to just kill Hitler? Or Mao? Or Stalin? Or Castro? Or Chavez? Name your dictator and think how better the world would be if those despots were "assassinated". Not to mention the thousands of our own young military lives not being wasted on stupid nation building, and the potential for their country to build and prosper.
I'm so sick of playing these stupid life and limb causing games for our young. I say KILL the NORKS and kill Iran as we did in WWII. KILL THEM ALL! And no, I don't have a problem with collateral damage. We didn't in WWII and I have ZERO problem with it now. Better there women and children dead than ours.
