Via Legal Insurrection, between this and Krystal Ball’s Socratic dialogue with a five-year-old about gay marriage, evidently it was indoctrination weekend at MSNBC. The novelty here isn’t the sentiment, it’s the candor. Hillary made this same point more digestible for the public by ladling on warm-fuzzy sauce about a “village” raising a child together. (Similarly, don’t think of huge government programs as budget-busting liabilities. They’re Christmas presents!) Harris-Perry had 30 seconds to give her version of the same point; when you’re operating within those time constraints, there may be no way to make the pitch in terms less creepy than this. I almost want to congratulate her for throwing a word as clammy as “collective” in there. It shows a certain bravado.
Here’s your counterpoint, from 2011, on whether the U.S. is “investing” enough in education. Another half-trillion or so ought to turn things around, I think. No wonder Ron Paul’s getting into home-schooling.
Update: Apologies to John Sexton. He had the Harris-Perry video yesterday and linked to the same USC post I linked to above, but I honestly didn’t see his item at Breitbart until after I posted this.
RE: The fact to so many Christian theologians loved him worries me.
I think they pick and choose his beliefs SELECTIVELY and did use certain Platonic terms, , but not necessarily with Platonic meaning.
However, I don’t know of a good Biblical Theologian who actually agrees with Plato’s “The Philosopher Class is Superior” thought.
The push is on
They know they have 3 years to take over, or it will be game over for them.
If Obama has not acheived ‘fundamental transformation’ by then, it will not go as smooth for them.
They are focused (already) on 2014 takeover of congress, and the idiots in the GOP are not even TALKING about the massive vote fraud that must have taken place for Obama to win the election, when he had to over sample Dems by 10% to make it look like a tie.
It IS general, but based on bastardity rates and government dependence statistics, probably fairly accurate.
Is it time to start shootin’ those PMSNBC r@tb@$t@rd$ yet?
Evil people are evil.
When I attended public schools we were taught that one of the evils of Communism is that it takes the children away from their families for indoctrination. Along with the idea that under Communism the government owns the people and in America the people own the government. Things have changed.
Someone should as her how “community ownership” has worked out in other areas, such as parks and other properties. She is running off the illusion that more people will take care of the kids. Human nature tells me that most people will say: “That kid is someone else’s problem. Let them take care of him.” After which, the kid is neglected.
By “community” she really means herself. She wants direct control of the children so she can indoctrinate them properly into Marxism, since the irresponsible parents are obviously not doing it...
This is how the progressives (aka communists in hiding) will win the next election.

The problem here as in every other avenue of battle between the left and the right is that The Left is ON THE ATTACK and The Right is RESPONDING.
Perhaps The Rights biggest problem is it’s passivity and total limp dick reaction to the never ending onslaught from The Left.
I’ve been watching this battle for a long time now and honestly The Right is PASSIVE.
Just frustrated on multiple levels.
That is already true eight hours a day; five days a week. The state has control over your children at that brick building you pay for thru confiscatory property taxes.
That's what happens when nobody owns their own progeny.
The Framers of the Constitution said that We the People ordained and established the Constitution to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity. What is our "posterity" if the children don't belong to their parents?

Children don’t ‘belong’ to their parents. They are a gift for the first few years; during which time the parents are their sole guardians.
If raised in love and discipline - children become responsible, caring adults and never become property of anyone, any group or any government.
That would be slavery!!!!
Wonder where this Perry 'womyn' learned to think this way? I'll give you three guesses...
RE: They are a gift for the first few years; during which time the parents are their sole guardians.
But this lady from MSNBC seems to think that the parents should NOT be their sole guardians.
Tax payers should PAY for the government ( AKA the Community ) to help be their guardians (whether the parents like it or not ).
There is more. Children are to be the pawns of those people who control the government. There are people/parents willing to sell their children to the government for their own personal benefit. Had this happen in the family.
I am hearing the word “collective” more and more now. It seems they could accomplish their same goals using other words. No - its almost as if they want to start coming out of the closet. How long before we actually hear these leftists say “communism in theory is good but has just not been implemented correctly”?
Might I suggest to melissa that she look into the families in chicago who ARE run and controlled by the state.
It’s so clever how they use just enough words to put it out there, but never define exactly what the heck this plan ends up being or looking like. Oh that’s right, the left can’t tell the truth lest every sane person reject them outright.
Great Father, please witness the corruption coming against your family order. Break the mouths promoting government owership of the children from our families. May their thoughts be overcome with torment as promote the fruit of death.
