NASA Global Warming Extremist Hansen Leaves To Fight Canadian Pipeline

Climate Change: The man who once compared coal trains to Nazi boxcars headed to crematoria leaves government service to fight what he calls the "pipeline to disaster" and promote his brand of climate quackery.
In 2007, Dr. James Hansen testified before the Iowa Utilities Board not in his capacity as a government employee but, in his words, "as a private citizen, a resident of Kintnersville, Pa., on behalf of the planet, of life on Earth, including all species."
Hansen told the board, "If we cannot stop the building of more coal-fired power plants, those coal trains will be death trains no less gruesome than if they were boxcars headed to crematoria, loaded with uncountable irreplaceable species."
Such is overheated rhetoric on global warming we came to expect from Dr. Hansen, who under the cover of his prestigious title as head of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), to put forth the long-discredited and overhyped theory of man-induced climate change ever since that day in June of 1988 when he told a Senate committee that "the greenhouse effect has been detected and it is changing our climate now."
As the head of NASA's Weather and Climate Research Program from 1982 to 1994, John Theon was Hansen's supervisor. Hansen's testimony in 1988 was "a huge embarrassment" to NASA, and he remains skeptical of Hansen's predictions.
"I don't have much faith in the models," Theon says, pointing to the "huge uncertainty in the role clouds play."

Yup. And to think we were lucky enough to pay his salary all those years. Proves the point that despite NASA touting the “best and brightest”, sometimes they do get it wrong. So who is gonna be paying this pander bear now? Hiz honor algore? Maybe he can invest in some carbon credit tax scheme.

If Mr. Hanson is so worried about coal fired power plants, perhaps he can go to China and try to shut theirs down. We’ll see how that works out for him.

I wonder if Hansen wears a Napoleon hat and runs up and down the stairs in his home with his sword drawn yelling “CHARGE!” like Teddy Roosevelt....

The Chicoms are probably paying (directly or indirectly) him to protest this pipeline. More for them if we don’t build it.

Hansen got away with campaigning for John Kerry and publicly attacking George Bush without losing his job. He continually complained he was being muzzled by the Bush Administration until, during Congressional testimony, Hansen was asked how were his 1st Amendment rights being violated if he were addressing Congress? Obama is a different breed of cat entirely than Bush. Hansen's campaign against Keystone will likely include attacks on Obama for not killing the project outright. Hansen will call Obama a political windsock and a tool of big oil.
Last year in an interview Hansen said not only should the Keystone project be stopped but hinted that the U.S. should prevent the Canadians from mining their own oil.
“If Canada proceeds, and we do nothing, it will be game over for the climate. . .President Obama speaks of a ‘planet in peril’ but he does not provide the leadership needed to change the worlds course,” Hansen said.
NASA knows Obama has zero tolerance for criticism and could punish the whole agency over the rantings of this goof. It may be Hansen was finally told to shut up or leave.
