So, do we have to rename the dogs to Zimbabwean Ridgebacks?

Having seen several parts of East and Southern Africa...including South Africa but not Zimbabwe...I’m very, very pessimistic about that region’s future.Of course I’m no expert but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand, after being exposed to the area, that things aren’t going well and are likely to get worse rather than better.

Interesting tidbit:

Suffering from cancer and facing extensive radiation and chemotherapy that he couldn’t afford, he’d decided to move in with relatives in Great Britain, where he’d never lived before, to get on the national health plan.

Kind of like what goes on in the States. Everybody get aboard the gravy train.

Gee, the minority thing does not quit work out the same for white people. Could it possibly be that Blacks are the actual racists and are lying?!

Nah, Holder is Justice.

>Hundreds of dispossessed white farmers from Zimbabwe have started farming again in Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi, and Uganda, bringing their agricultural expertise to impoverished nations

And they will most likely be hacked to death for their contributions.

"Hundreds of dispossessed white farmers from Zimbabwe have started farming again in Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi, and Uganda, bringing their agricultural expertise to impoverished nations. Four years ago, in Kwara State, a Muslim-dominated part of Nigeria two hours north of Lagos, I met thirteen white Zimbabweans who had accepted the state governor’s offer of free land and guaranteed bank loans in exchange for their help in reviving Nigeria’s nearly moribund agricultural sector."

Any bets on how soon these governments will appropriate the farms once said farms start producing successfully?

A long but worthy read....

The author blames the problems in Africa on colonial rule of European whites. So, what's worthy about the read? It's the usual PC claptrap promoted by the left. Africa was a $h!thole before Europeans arrived. It will return to a $h!thole once they are driven out. Africa is what it is, a savage land where civilization cannot take root.

but the failure of many African nations to emerge as viable states stems from more complicated factors. Some of this may be cultural, some geographical and climatic, some the result of a culture of dependency and a pernicious colonial legacy.

The author is not permitted to blame any of this disaster on the Africans themselves. Nothing said about all the war and slavery, not to mention torture and cannibalism (if you believe earlier histories), that preceded the colonial era, making French and British rule look pretty good by comparison.

He does say that many of the post-colonial African "rulers" are a pretty bad bunch, but that's the nearest he can come to criticizing the Africans themselves. He also doesn't mention that the Colonial Dutch actually arrived in southern Africa earlier than the Zulu tribes from the north who now prevail. Pigmies had lived in that territory earlier.

Welcome overview and update on the tragic situation in Africa. I have many friends there, and I grieve for their struggles.

Africa never had it so good as when they were under Colonial Rule. Mandela & Co should have been executed in prison decades ago, as a commie terrorist. JMO.

The most notorious example took place in the Congo, which Belgian administrators turned into a vast slave state dedicated to the production of rubber.

This is misleading, if not inaccurate. The Congo Free State was the personal property of King Leopold II of Belgium from about 1880 to 1908, when the Belgian government finally took over.

Many of the administrators may have been Belgians, but they were not working for the Belgian government.

The genocide that took place under Leopold was indeed appalling.

Years back, when the African nations were gaining independence, there was a cartoon that showed a native emerging from the ground, outside a high prison wall marked “Apartheid” only to look around and see an even higher wall labelled “Tribalism”.

Forty years later, life is still imitating art.

If European colonialism brought productive agriculture, modern infrastructure and a stable economic environment when none had existed prior, just how exploitive were they? If all this collapsed when they were killed or forced to flee, how is this a good thing for black Africans, other than the corrupt elite who are padding foreign bank accounts and letting it all go to hell? What is the true purpose? Racial cleansing? That honestly appears to be the only thing accomplished, other than a return to famine for many. Maybe all the screaming about colonialism was just a front for a bunch of Malthusians who believe in population reduction?
