Developers recently unveiled plans for the new Wilshire Grand Hotel and office tower, set to be built in downtown Los Angeles. The new building is set to have a futuristic look inside and out, standing tall at 1,100 feet. The new Wilshire Grand is set to be a four star plus hotel and will have many luxurious attractions.
The project is estimated to cost around one billion dollars and is set to open in 2017. One of the towers most interesting features will be its high tech elevator system. The office area will use an elevator system that has no buttons inside the cab. The elevator will know where you are going and know your typical daily schedule. Using an ID card system, the elevator will know exactly where you will be, when you will be there, and where you want to go. If you normally arrive at 8:15 AM, the elevator will be on the first floor waiting for you. What if you want to go another floor? Not an option with this elevator system, because the designers want you to register everything on your card, so the elevators can run more efficiently. The hotel guests can take advantage of the super-fast elevators that will bring them to any floor, even the sky lobby on the 70th floor, in no time at all.
Someday they’ll need a Columbo to solve “Murder on the 25th Floor”
But with they have Sabbath elevators?
California.....they’re even going to have nazi elevators.
“You vill go to da 70th floor! Der is no going places you don’t need to go to! Ve know vere you need to go!”
One problem - nobody wants to stay in downtown LA!
God love Columbo. We so need some intelligent people to fight this Leviathan and put a big wrench in this Neo-Marxist movement. The billions these creepy perverted elites have is very daunting-—most people can be bought off or easily bribed and they have total control of all three branches of our government now.
And THAT my friends is where our command-economy government is headed. This is no different than life in the Soviet Union, ask someone who lived there. The only difference is that instead of a stern faced bureaucrat telling you it's not allowed, a computer will simply ignore your request. In a safe and efficient society where our betters know what is best for us, there will be no need for an unscheduled mid-morning walk when you just want some fresh air and a few minutes to get away from the office.
Pretty efficient system, but with some drawbacks.
Occasionally I quip...."I feel like Columbo"...."One more thing".
Especially considering the constrained intelligence of the folks who will program them.
Gee, what could possible go wrong? Eerily similar to lots of computer software — it works exactly as the designers wanted it to work. But, designers are not users, and no one could get anything done with the software.

"The buildings height of 1,100 feet will make it the tallest building west of the Mississippi River, taking over the top spot of its neighbor the U.S. Bank building."
I’m getting sooooO tired of the elitist use of ‘smart’ in selling products.
No bigus dealus.
Do they have stairs in case you lose your card?
Re: photo. Kier Dullea. Boy was he hot. I was in LOVE with him!
I’ve used those elevators in the past in Chicago and in Europe. They are terrible. Very confusing to people who have never seen one before. Usually they require human operators on the ground floor telling people how to use the elevator.
