At approximately 1345 local time, the town of Sentani was rocked for around 1 minute by a 7.2 earthquake. The epicenter was 240 kilometers WSW of Abepura. At present we have no reports of damage. Papua is Indonesia's easternmost and least populated province. It is expected that minimal damage occurred as the location is in the interior jungle rather than in one of the more populated areas.
The dog was a mite concerned.

SAVE THE COFFEE!!!!
I just saw on the map where it was; it appears to be in the middle of the Baliem Valley, on the northern edge of “the highlands”. From that, I’m not expecting any or no damage.
so you are there and felt it?
I watch the USGS site religiously and noticed it about 10 minutes after it happened. Been trying to find information. Thanks. keep us updated
If you want some, I can ship you some. Give me contact details and your order via freepmail and I’ll see what I can do to make it happen.
I’m on the coast, in Sentani where the airport is. Specifically, if you can find the Hillcrest International School on Google earth, I’m in the apartment on campus closest to the pine trees. LOL!

You, m’lady are a living goddess!
A good reason to pull up my google earth! lol

I’m hoping the water stayed in the swimming pool. Probably did.
Bless your heart! Thank you.
AHhhhhhhhhh just found your website. AWESOME!!!
My brother was a missionary with Sudan Interior Missions in French West Africa for many years. His children were sent to a Missions School.
Do you teach?
Jemian,
New Tribes missionaries Bud and Bonnie Morton came and presented at our church - interesting part of the world if a bit shakey sometimes.

7.1 and nothing fell over?
New Tribes Mission is a great organization!
The epicenter is actually about 100 miles away. Not surprising.
It sure is caww. I’ve been looking at Hillcrest International School and wow...a great place and ministry.
I grew up in my younger years ( 72 years now) in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. I notice one of their sponsoring churches is CMA. Brother was a CMA missionary before he became involved in Sudan Interior Missions.
Here is the Hillcrest link.

are you experiencing any aftershocks?
I teach students of NTM workers. I go diving with the adults when they’re out of the interior. Fantastic group of people and very, very committed to the Lord. I love ‘em!
