First the US fanfared the placement of two F-22 Raptors in the Osan airbase of South Korea. Then it demonstratively launched a B-2 stealth bomber on a training mission over a South Korean gunnery range. Then it deployed an anti-ballistic missile defense system to Guam and positioned two guided-missile destroyers in the waters near Korea. And now, courtesy of the Aviationist, we learn that the Pentagon has escalated once more in an ongoing cat and mouse game with North Korea, of who blinks first, and dispatched several B-1 ("Bone") Lancer strategic long-range bombers to Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. What is different this time, however, is that unlike the previous very public and widely trumpeted reciprocal escalation steps, this particular deployment has been kept secret from the public (at least the broader public), "a fact that could be the sign that the U.S. is not only making symbolic moves (as the above mentioned ones), but it is preparing for the worst scenario: an attack on North Korea."

“I dont know why they would deploy the B-1.One of our subs could smoke the whole miserable country before breakfast.”
Agreed. If we’ve deployed B1s it is simply for “show of force” purposes. Personally, I doubt there are any B1s in theater (and I consider Anderson AFB on Guam to be “in theater”).
Send a couple of squadrons of A-10s to South Korea. Their ground vehicles will only have to drive a couple of miles before they are destroyed.
There's a reason for that.
“The US is ruled by a cult of personality as well. The only difference between the US and NK is we have food in the stores. The US is just as degenerate and immoral as any of the worst fundamentalist or marxist shadow puppet regimes currently available anywhere”
We haven’t been at it for 50 years, and our madmen are not quite as mad as theirs.
"In a country ruled by a personality cult around the family as much as anything else im not sure they can assassinate him."
Wait, which leader are you guys talking about, ours or theirs? I get confused...
> US Secretly Deploys...
I read the post and have now forgotten about it. It remains a secret.
If not a secret it'll do until a real secret comes along. This is from Boeing's website:
E-6 TACAMO (Take Charge and Move Out) airplanes support the U.S. Navy's ballistic missile submarine force. They provide survivable, reliable, and endurable airborne command, control, and communications between the National Command Authority (NCA) and U.S. strategic and non-strategic forces.
The E-6 TACAMO consists of the E-6A, a modified Boeing 707-320B with CFM-56 engines, and the E-6B, a modified E-6A equipped with an airborne launch control system (ALCS) capable of launching U.S. land based intercontinental ballistic missiles.
The fleet provides:
Apparently the plane is designed for a very specific mission...
There are less than 20 bridges in Seoul that will get you to the south side of the Han. You have to assume that at least some of those will be targeted by FA and/or saboteurs right at the onset of hostilities. If you've ever tried to leave Seoul at the start of Chusok, the major arteries are parking lots, and that's a holiday without any mass panic.
If the NORKs drop chem rounds, it would be a slaughter on a scale that would make the firebombings of Tokyo or Dresden pale in comparison.
I imagine the video of Obiwan's recent basketball prowess was shown to all N Korea with the same results! If it weren't for our national face on the line, it'd be funny.
Oh well, now it looks like Israel won’t be getting much support for their attack on Iran. I smell something diversionary here.
During the time they were stationed at McConnell AFB in Wichita, it was quite common to hear the thunderous rumbling of the B1’s playing with their afterburners on takeoff. You could hear it miles and miles away.
But. What you wrote is funny!
Well, the Chinese had already pretty much put an end to that before Truman fired him
“Kim is kinda begging to be assassinated by his own.”
Once upon a time we got things like that done.
But we missed the fall of the USSR, missed 9-11-2001, took 9+ years to kill bin Laden.
Topping a tiny menace like NK is probably too hard for us now.
They are trying hard to make Kim look like something he isn't. Of course I doubt it takes much to convince the N.Korean people....to scare them I'll add.
Questionable if the armor shot is old film or current....but these aren't for our benefit as much as for the N.Koreans to swallow.
Ha, I recall another tin-pot dictator did that a few months ago.
B-1B’s are like giant fighter jets. They have to make sure to avoid their number 1 nemesis though; Birds!
huh?
Even in the late 70’s, UHF COMM would not be in the open
