CHICAGO (AP) Acclaimed film critic Roger Ebert said he's been diagnosed with cancer again and that he will scale back his prolific writing of movie reviews while undergoing radiation treatment.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to go into a blow-by-blow criticism of Ebert's career. However, his contributions were not solely of the scholarly variety. For example, his "work" with Russ Meyer was also among his initial claims to fame, and that pretty much sums it up with me in terms of the cultural argument. There's also the fawning encouragement of the disinformation campaigns of Michael Moore and algore.
Not being the artsy type, I'm not sure exactly what you mean by Medved not having a "sense of the medium", but that's fine. You obviously have a much more positive opinion of Ebert than I, but I assure you that I'll get over it, as I'm confident that my opinion of Ebert will cause you no lasting harm. Regards....
In general, I like his reviews. His taste in films is very much like the average guys. He goes wrong only when he gets into politics. Very ideological. I once had an exchange with him about Gods and Generals, He refused to acknowledge that black slavery was not as totally black as he thought, that it was in the Tidewater no worse than the Russian serfdom portrayed in novels.
What percentage of movies that come out do you think are actually worth watching? Now think about all those other ones, and think about HAVING to watch them, and watch them closely enough to write a cohesive commentary on them. While it’s certainly not a physically demanding job, the emotional toll of having to watch every piece of crap Michael Bay spews out is epic. The Geneva convention wouldn’t allow you to do that to a POW.
Actually your take on Ebert has wounded me deeply. Just kidding.
I am just happy that he is going away. However it happens is good with me. Now, if Pelosi and Reid would just get lost, I would be a very happy girl.
Liberalism is a cancer on our great country. Since Ebert has chosen to help spread that cancer in his works and has been so vicious towards anyone who disagrees with him I see this as his own evil coming back to consume him.
His illness is a terrible one, but I can not shed a tear for the fact that he chose to be an enemy to the very things I hold dear makes him an enemy to me.
The only thing I can wish for him is that he goes quickly.
He will not be given sympathy from me.
Ok, I get your point here. Let me ask, do you believe that Dick Cheney contributed at least as much, or more, then Roger? It’s a false litmus test imho, the rabid left would love to see him suffer even more than he already hes (his heart issues).
The left dancing on the suffering and ultimate graves of those on our side of the aisle.
I won’t partake in any snark regarding this mans demise, but please, don’t chastise those who see him for the vile man he has become. His history is quite ugly.
Youre all class....
I’ve been told that. Oh and as far as Ebert. I’m a mirror to him. I’ll go ahead and respond to you.

I just have nothing to really say about him. More worried about my buddies in Afghanistan and maybe Turkminestan. Same thing when any of these libs pass. I’ll worry as much as they do when a soldier or sailor is killed.... which really isn’t much now is it? He’s a Catholic I think. So I gather he can make himself right by the big guy upstairs and join Teddy K and the rest of the right thinking libs wherever they end up.
I suspect you’d want me to “pray for him”. I’ll let you do that for me.
The times I get on my knees and ask the man for guidance and hope, I”ll do it for someone I know, not some faceless public figure that means nothing to me. I really could care less if any or all the libs pass away. We’re all going to die and my praying for him would really be even more hypocritical than I am normally.
So I would compound a useless prayer, with the Lord knowing I don’t give a sh#t about him dying and saying I’m praying for him in order to give the appearance of benevolent Christianity and the facade of compassion for Ebert. When it matters more to me what the weather is outside, if friends are in harm’s way or if my family is safe and sound.... if there is rust on some outside sprinkler heads....in other words there are about a million other things that I care about than this fella.
I just wanted to put it on the thread as such. Kinda like if you can’t say nothing nice about someone...just ....click and go on by.
Of course he has. I wouldn’t cheer the death of anyone except rapists and murderers.
Not if you're any good at it.
From reading the IMDB postings about Ebert I must say that he’s really not done much to promote anything but himself. The movies he wrote were all Russ Meyer’s movies. Up, Beyond the Vally of the Dolls, Beneath the valley of the Ultra Vixen’s, and one which wasn’t porn (as far as I can tell) titled Billy Baxter Presents Diary of the Cannes Film Festival with Rex Reed. Although Rex Reed helped write Myra Breckenridge. A real suck movie.
So he wrote some books. Where they world changing books or just his reviews of movies and his liberal ideas? Who cares.
He won a Nobel for being a critic? Big deal. Just shows how little that award really means. Just like his hero Obama.
It appears that some here put too much importance on this guy and on liberal hollyweird too.
I guess it wasn’t a Nobel, it was a pulitzer prize. Whoop de friggen doooo.
Just another libtard journalist. Which ain’t saying much.
Funny how some “conservatives” on here are so ready to forgive and forget the libtard hollyweird kooks who would only spit on any conservative if given the chance.
Makes one wonder their true political leanings.
Soon.
He won the Pulitzer in Criticism and he’s not a Hollywood figure. As a critic wouldn’t be part of the culture they write about. If you think cinema is important than Ebert is an important figure.
You’re rooting for him to die?
Looks like the evil he’s harbored against his fellow Americans for so long, is finally eating him alive.
We’ve said it here for years: liberalism kills. Literally.
Not just *him*!
Phew!
