There was no doubt 86-year-old George Sanders killed his ailing wife. Yet everyone in the small Arizona courtroom the prosecutor, the judge and even the couple's family members agreed it was a time for compassion, not punishment. "My grandfather lived to love my grandmother, to serve and to make her feel as happy as he could every moment of their life," Sanders' grandson, Grant, told the judge, describing the couple's life together as "a beautiful love story." "I truly believe that the pain had become too much for my grandmother to bear," he said, while Sanders looked on during the sentencing hearing Friday and occasionally wiped his eyes with a tissue as relatives pleaded tearfully for mercy.

Regardless, I could put myself into his shoes very easily and the emotions he must have (and still is) experiencing are gut-wrenching. I can understand not wanting to terminate your own life, but I wonder if I wouldn’t have been 5 seconds behind my wife...

I have known several men who actually willed themselves to die after losing their wives. My brother was one of them.
A woman I dearly loved willed herself to die only two weeks after her husband. She stayed alive just to care for him.
It happens, perhaps it is best.

no... but I read the news and am aware of far more peacefull ways of killing oneself, such as simply going to the garage and starting the car with the door down.

The best way is to inhale pure nitrogen using a face mask. It makes you euphoric, shuts down the brain and you die.
The worst way to go is having headphones glued to your ears and having to listen to this over and over for about 3 minutes............

At first the victim screams bloody murder at the sound of the shrill voice, then blood comes out of his ears, then the eyes pop out of the sockets and then the head explodes. It’s very gruesome.
