NOPD baffled as to why 3 men attacked a stranger in the Marigny without robbing him

New Orleans police said Friday they are bewildered as to why three young men brutally beat a stranger on a Marigny street corner last weekend, but did not rob him. The lead detective on the case said the assailants, armed with a bottle, had "ample opportunity" to rob the victim, who can be seen on surveillance footage lying immobilized on the ground during much of the attack.

The victim, who was left severely injured and his face disfigured, still had his cell phone and cash after the beating, police said.

Police are baffled. I wonder what could be the explanation.

The three attackers are obviously misunderstood, disadvantaged minorities. Can’t tell what the victim’s race is.

The normal facts were left out, so I presume the victim is white and the perps were black. I also presume that is as much motive as there is.

I think the baffled NOPD should look at the video more carefully.

I cannot tell, for certain, the race of the victim or the perps. Perhaps the NOPD can.
