Because of asset seizures, I am starting my new company outside California

While the law stipulates that I must surrender this money, I refuse to acknowledge this as a tax at all. This is not a tax. This is an asset seizure plain and simple. The term retroactive tax is a despicable euphemism. It is no different than when Hugo Chavez used the benign-sounding nationalize to describe his seizure of private property in Venezuela.
Now before I go any further, let me tell you what I am not.
I am not a Tea Party member. I am not even a Republican. Twice I have voted for Barack Obama, and I was supportive of his tax compromise earlier this year. I am not a person who opposes paying taxes, even higher ones. I am a very reasonable person who respects the great opportunity that America has given to me.
But there is a very clear and unambiguous line between taxes regardless of how high they are and asset seizures. The State of California has taken money from me. Money that I already earned and paid taxes on, and I will not tolerate this act of theft.

So have I. The are confused why their taxes and insurance premiums are going up. Most have refused to acknowledge us eeeevil conservatives were right. However, one has actually applied for a pistol permit. Somehow, I doubt that’s what Obama wanted.

My California employees will be relocating to New York by early next year... Alrighty then... Moving from California to New York - now there is a brilliant move for you. Because we know New York will never resort to the type of asset theft he has experienced in California... Never...

But he’s moving to New York City, another high tax place.
To: swamp40
I am not sure he is going not encounter the same problem in NY, within a year or 2.
That is why moved from So. Cal to Dallas.
I agree I’ll take bad weather (we spend most modern lives indoors anyway) over bad government. I also was tired of having be told to me that I was EVIL for making good decisions (when I was young and now) and work my butt off to make a better-than-most living.
I won’t stay where I am not wanted, so I left the place of my birth and life and haven’t looked back except to have great Schadenfreude, especially with articles like this.
California may be closer to the tipping point than it thinks.

Well I for one don't thank him just because he sees the light on this one issue, because this makes him exactly the kind who will move to another state to protect his own precious hide, bringing all the rest of his leftist baggage with him, ready to foist it on the freedom-loving present residents. When it all eventually leads to his new state enacting exactly the same sort of measures he fled, he'll be too stupid or too stubborn to make the connection-once again-and take it to yet another state to destroy.
Actually, I think they know full well what they're doing. I think they pretend to take issue with one measure, as an excise for being the advance guard into red states to turn them blue. It's just the way they've operated with the media, academia, then mainstream Christianity and the military. Now it's one prong of their undermining of the "opposition" party, by infiltrating red states for the other team. They've already done it with quite a few. They don't need to het the whole state, just the large population centers which are usually already more left-leaning anyway.
