Gun deaths are shaped by race in America. Whites are far more likely to shoot themselves, and African Americans are far more likely to be shot by someone else.
The statistical difference is dramatic, according to a Washington Post analysis of data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A white person is five times as likely to commit suicide with a gun as to be shot with a gun; for each African American who uses a gun to commit suicide, five are killed by other people with guns.
Where a person lives matters, too. Gun deaths in urban areas are much more likely to be homicides, while suicide is far and away the dominant form of gun death in rural areas. States with the most guns per capita, such as Montana and Wyoming, have the highest suicide rates; states with low gun ownership rates, such as Massachusetts and New York, have far fewer suicides per capita.
Suicides and homicides are highly charged human dramas. Both acts shatter families, friends and sometimes communities. But the reactions are as different as black and white, and those differences shape the nation’s divided attitudes toward gun control.
For instance, African Americans tend to be stronger backers of tough gun controls than whites. A Washington Post-ABC News poll this month found that about three-quarters of blacks support stronger controls, compared with about half of whites. The poll also found that two-thirds of city dwellers support stronger gun controls, while only about a third of rural residents back them.

Hey now, wait a tic. I grew up in a single-mother household, but I'm as white as Wonderbread.
Blacks killing each other isn't new. Myriad tribes from sub-Saharan Africa to Cape Horn murder each other for land, politics, religion, women, war, pestilence, etc. They've been murdering and raping and pillaging for millenia. Just because a bunch of white men in funny wigs showed up on the west coast of Africa in the 18th century and started bringing African blacks to the western hemisphere doesn't mean they're going to stop finding a reason to murder one another.
I would dare step out on a very long, very precarious limb and say that the slave trade actually bred camaraderie and brotherhood among blacks. They were all in the same position, regardless of tribal roots, and they had to learn how to work together to stay alive under oftentimes despotic slaveholder rule. In many ways, however, European whites saved these blacks from lives of certain death under the rule of warlords.
It's only over the course of a couple centuries that blacks have reverted to their tribal roots but here on American soil. It's all about money, cars, drugs, and women here. Gangbanging is about "respect," and if killing a man and his child in cold blood to show how "hard" you are means you get to hopscotch over a thug who simply held up a liquor store in the "respect" ladder, then that's what they do.
Guns are very obviously not the problem here. White men and women with large safes full of guns are not killing themselves more than some pre-teen gangbanger in the southside of Chicago trying to get street cred with a stolen 9 mm Keltec.
Blacks are killing themselves, because they've been doing it for thousands of years. A black man with whom I spent many semesters working in college was from Lesotho. He was as black as the night sky, "blue black" they called him in his native country. He says that in predominantly black countries, your skin color is a determinant to where you fall on the social hierarchy. The lighter your skin, the more important you are deemed to be.
This still goes on across the world, but somehow, white American males are considered the "most racist" in the world. I don't get it.

I don't have to call my county coroner. Every time I watch the local news from Chicago on TV, the first 10 minutes are all about death and violence, and when they show a face it usually is dark. If you estimated the population of Chicago based on the people doing or being the victim of bad things as represented on the local TV news, it's 90% black.
And when I have traveled to other large cities on business and watch their local news, it's pretty much the same story.

Deliberate mealy-mouthed-ness from the Post. The number of white-on-black murders in the USA is so low as to be nearly statistically insignificant. The "people with guns" in this case who are killing African Americans are all African American.

If the suicides are by gun but they are not shot with a gun how do they do it?
Do they use the gun to beat themselves to death?
Also they showed how gun suicides are higher in places with more guns, but they didn’t mention how homicides are higher where there’s more gun control.
But the liberal mind blames an unthinking, inanimate object rather than the person committing the murder.
