If someone kicks in your door, I believe you can shoot as many times and use whatever force you like.
The never said what the guy was after...
According to DHS, doesn’t the acceptable use of force in such circumstances involve scissors and/or urinating on yourself?
LMFAO. I'd say there weren't late at all!!!
Right on time, coppers!!!
The three rounds was not excessive. If he had dropped dead after the first round maybe the two additional shots would have been unnecessary. You never know when one of these creatures is hopped up on meth!
The following is an extract from the linked article:
“....another neighbor, Carla Carney, believes that the use of force was excessive, that the homeowner did not need to fire his weapon three times....”
Perhaps the self righteous Ms Carney should post, in her front yard, a prominent sign that would read something along the lines of “OCCUPANTS HERE DON’T BELIEVE IN USING EXCESSIVE FORCE AGAINST HOME INVADERS”. That way home invaders would be less likely to target her neighbors and go for the less dangerous Ms Carney’s house instead—and I would no longer consider her to be a likely hypocrite.
Sounds like a good shoot but.....
He ran his mouth too much to the 911 dispatcher. Perp is still alive, home owner may want to rethink his weapon and caliber selection. If perp survives there will probaby be a lawsuit based on the home owners, “I’m going to kill him” comment to the 911 dispatcher.
You shoot to stop the threat. If the perp dies after being shot 4 times with my .40 caliber 165 gr Gold Dot hollow points that’s unfortunate for him but I was merely defending myself. Killing the perp was not my intent.
You shoot until you are damned sure they are out of action.
I always scrunch my face skeptically when I read about a “home intruder” loudly kicking / beating down a front frealing door. Really? Who does that? I prefer home defense victories where intruders are shot dead after coming through a back window, and there is no indication the intruder was there to steal a drug stash.
But...To those folks saying things like "shoot til down and then as needed," please realize that while you can shoot a burglar, you are NOT going to get away with 'finishing him off.' They will pen you up for that.
you’re in your house, you have family, kids, wife , in laws and someone breaks into your house.
Do you just ignore them and hope for the best?
Do you then call and just hope the police get there in less than 1 minute\\?
Do you get your gun and shoot him and take the danger away from you and your family?
o and hello newbie
I know that I would protect my family and myself, not that I would expect a far left liberal / socialist idiot to understand that.
hang on I know you’;re new but you;re asking if 3 rounds is too many etc, do you know a woman hid in her house, in GA, the intruder came into the room where she was hiding and she fired 5 rounds into him, and he still made it.
3 rounds too much, hell no
and that was a few weeks ago, a few days ago an elderly couple had to fire a lot of rounds to a couple of intruders and the police said they did everything right and it was a good job that they had that many rounds to defend themselves
I thought that was good advice, specially coming from a lawyer.
‘Self-defense is a virtue,
Sole bulwark of all right.’
Byron ‘Sardanapalus’ Act 2, sc.1
You tell ‘em fellow Okie.
Three was good as you need to save a few rounds in case the perp has accomplices.
One in the face though is a great start.
However, another neighbor, Carla Carney, believes that the use of force was excessive .... You should protect your house, but if he was shot once, why continue to keep shooting?Folks, I think we have an Obama Voter here. Carla is dumber than a stick.
(no offense to sticks)
This is a quote from a neighbor (in the article). It reminded me of what I was taught when I took classes from an NRA instructor. He said you keep firing until the perp drops, then you stop. You had better stop at that point lest you find yourself in deep doo-doop with the law.
