The U.S. Air Force Academy has cancelled its annual July 4th celebration and military officials are blaming it on the sequestration.
“Faced with so many uncertainties about the future budget, we have to look at ways to save money,” said Lt. Col. John Bryan, Director of Public Affairs at the Academy. ”But for now, we’ve had to cut back on many things we normally would support.”

Everything is blamed on that “sequestration” - out of 3,500 billion, 85 billion has made this huge impact on our nation? Like if you had 3,500 dollars 85 dollars would impact your household???
i wonder if we can get enough AF vets to jump in and contribute to give something to these cadets who are offering up their lives for the country? it doesnt need to be formal, but a few hundred vets and families can put together a big bbq and fireworks show.
i know there are the bigger political issues with the seq fraud but i’m thinking of the cadets to know the rest of us thank them.
Whatever it takes so long as there is enough money left over for federal studies on duck penis lengths and snail mating habits.

I’m a USAF vet (1970-1974). But this smacks of the utter politicization of our armed forces. They have the money to celebrate Independence Day. But because of PC they’ll dump that and use the money “saved” to fund a study as to why Air Force Academy lesbians are fat.
The left has won. They control the press, the schools, the courts, and now the military (well, the hierarchy, anyway; I think a good portion of the lower-ranking officers, and the rank and file, may have other ideas).
I have a suspicion that the dropping of the flag for the start of CWIII is not far off.
And would returning to the budget of 2007 -- $1 trillion and change less -- plunge us into ruin? How did we ever get by just those six short years ago?

I’m fine with this if it truly saves money. Cuts need to be made, and some of them will be things we like. It’s the nature of living within your means...something responsible Americans do every single day.
The C-in-C doesn’t believe in the Fourth of July. He has shown his true colors time and time again, and they are not red, white, and blue.
They will no doubt be available for Eid al-Fitr.
And yet the AFA spends millions every spring installing new sod and keeping it well watered every year for the big wigs who come in for graduation and the 4th.
