Communist propaganda and downed U.S. aircraft? Thats entertaining. Vietnamese communists had their first big PR coup during the Tet offensive of 1968, when CBS Walter Cronkite ignored the decisive U.S. military victory and told America the war was unwinnable. Three and a half decades later, here comes CBS again, allowing an entertainment show to participate in a bit of old-fashioned communist propaganda.
The March 17 episode of The Amazing Race featured its usual routine; teams travelling to different countries and completing tasks in a race to reach the finish line. These tasks typically involve learning about another culture. However, in last nights episode, when contestants traveled to Hanoi, Vietnam, and had to memorize a Communist song, it moved from squishy multiculturalism to offensive agitprop.

it didn’t take this long for me to know this
Oh, I was angry immediately. Host Phil Keoghan did not respond to angry tweets last night.
The network of Edward R. Murrow, Katie Couric, Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather and Mike Wallace is far left-wing? Knock me over with a feather.
Not only did they play the Communist song numerous times in the episode, with subtitles, they ended the episode with the same song. Terrible socialist propaganda. It had no place being on TV let along on The Amazing Race.
well i meant i don’t watch this show cause i have nightmares bad enough but i see what you are saying and we won’t discuss my anger
***Walter Cronkite ignored the decisive U.S. military victory and told America the war was unwinnable.***
That traitorous sob should have been shot or hanged.
Nicely done!
I watch this show and it didn’t bother me. It’s part of the culture. It might have been part of a deal CBS had to make with the country. The show often has to do things to conform. Like Phil having to wear a sarong. Even if not something that they had to agree to..., it gives the viewer a perspective.
I actually laughed at the ludicrousness of the song.
Btw, Phil was once detained in Ukraine over some issue as the race was going on..he spent the night locked up until an American Ambassador that was a fan of the show helped him.
They have to walk a line when filming in other countries.

That picture has an interesting history. It was photoshopped by a Freeper named Registered. He took it down when he realized that people thought it was real but by then it was too late. It went viral as if it was real and the poor guy got sued by the folks with the original photo for copyright violations.

Registared made this famous image too so you can bet the left wanted to nail him.
I haven’t watched a single thing on CBS for more than 20 years.
My wife and I were appalled at the thoughtlessness of this episode. I guess they really do think history starts with them. Thanks for posting this article!

Not photo-shopped.
True, that photo is real. They eventually lost against Registered after 8 year of lawsuits, I’m sure he took a bit hit anyways defending himself from this. The left is RUTHLESS. If anything this nobody photographer who sued MADE money because of the controversy .
If it's good enough for Dan Rather ...
Yep, there’s a couple of traitors.
