Disabled 13-year-old Brooklyn girl hurled off moving bus by bully
Daily News ^ | March 13, 2013

A bully tossed a disabled girl out of the back door of a moving school bus and straight into the path of oncoming traffic — an attack that easily could have ended in death.

Two matrons were on the bus dealing with a ruckus, but neither was able to protect Amore-Virginia Peterson, 13, on Friday. She said that when she slammed into the pavement she thought she “was going to die” — but she managed to scramble out of the road before she was hit by the cars bearing down on her.

The bipolar sixth-grader suffered a broken collarbone and was rushed from the scene in an ambulance.

By those words, you raised the issue of premeditation. If you don't think this was premeditated, then say so.

The rear bus doors don't open by themselves by simply pushing on them. Someone opened the door. By "poor planning", I meant that he didn't mean to go out the door when he "allegedly" threw her out. I don't know what he "premeditated", but if he opened the door during the heat of the altercation, I doubt he planned on following her out, but I could be wrong.

Do we know anything about the bully, other than he “hurled” the girl out the back of the bus? What is this kid’s mental condition? Is this a kid who should be in an institution instead of a school?

Evidently, the school thinks he should be on a different bus route anyway.

Thank you for the clarification.

We can agree that neither of us know for certain what happened.

As for the bus route, I think that has more to do with heading off a lawsuit than anything else.

Consider this picture of a typical emergency door latch:

That red lever is what opens the door, it must be pushed either to the right or left (not sure which), but what I am wondering is whether in the struggle, one or the other of them could have hit that lever with their arm causing the door to open. If they were leaning against it, they both would have gone out.

If that were the case, it would have been entirely an accident, with no forethought, premeditation, or criminal intent. Just kids doing stupid stuff, as kids are wont to do.

I have one of those school buses, and the red lever is basically horizontal inside the black handle that the man has his hand on when the door is shut. Lifting the handle to the position that it is in in the picture causes an alarm to sound and the door to open.

“Education officials said that they are looking to put the boy who attacked Amore-Virginia on another route.

Yeah, that should solve the problem. “

When I was a kid, the little perp would have never been allowed to come back to school, much less ride the bus. The schools don’t kick them out because they want the $$$ for having the bodies there. We’re going to spend and PC ourselves to death!

OK, you win. I give up.

Been a long time since I was in a school bus.

The reason I don't buy it in children is, how could you tell? Kids change behaviors and moods in seconds.

Bipolar/ADHD/autistic kids are often much smarter than average. My son tested at a genius level. Not all “special needs” children cause problems in a classroom.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Every parent wants their kid to succeed but some aren't satisfied with normal and seek tests to prove their offspring is so special and I've seen it first hand. Guess what, your kid is special, just like everyone else. There is another possibility as well. Maybe your kid is just a brat?

So your kid tested genius, congratulations, there aren't any geniuses in prison, then again maybe there are. I hope he doesn't have to go through all the tests I had to go to since they thought I was cheating because I could work and read so fast. I tested off the charts but I don't think they ever believed me but they couldn't prove otherwise. The only good thing is I got to do what I wanted from third grade until Jr. High. A chick in my class had to go through the same B.S. We had to sit and fiddle our fingers because they taught to the lowest common denominator and they didn't have special classes back then. So now that kids with whatever problem get to slow down the rest of the class, way to go.

I don't know you but I bet everyone you talk to gets to her about your little genius. If I'm wrong I'll apologize laugh because I don't believe it, I've seen mothers like you.

You’re right, I know nothing about you, however, if you are halfway intelligent, you should notice that you can place people in groups. If I meet someone, I see if they fit in the inventory of people types I have and if so, I know how they will react and usually how they think. People think they’re so special but in reality, there aren’t that many types of people. You fit like a glove into a type I know so I know how you will react and how you think and also, I knew you were the whiner type the first post you made to me.

I’m a jerk, that’s funny because most people call me an ***hole. The reason is I will tell people the ugly truth, I won’t lie to save someone’s feelings, I think that’s dishonest.

So while you lie awake thinking of some witty comeback, know this, I don’t care, there’s nothing you can say that will bother me.

I notice you are unable to refute anything I said, maybe you should get your genius son to help you out.
