Full title: First Lady: ‘Imagine’ an America Where Kids Beg for ‘More Fruits, Vegetables’ – ‘It is Possible To Create This World!'

(CNSNews.com) – First Lady Michelle Obama said she can “imagine” an America where businesses promote the “healthiest options” so children will be “begging and pleading” for fruits and vegetables, adding that “it is possible to create” such a world.

“I mean, just think for a minute what this country could look like,” Mrs. Obama said at the Partnership for a Healthier America Summit on Friday at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

“Imagine walking into any grocery store in America and finding the healthiest options clearly marked and centrally placed so that you know within seconds what’s good for your family when you walk in that store,” Mrs. Obama said. “Imagine opening up a menu in any restaurant and knowing exactly what items will give your family the most nutrition for your hard-earned dollar.”

“Imagine our kids begging and pleading, throwing tantrums to get you to buy more fruits, vegetables and whole grains,” Mrs. Obama said.

“Yes, this is possible,” Mrs. Obama said. “It is possible to create this world!”

Mrs. Obama praised corporations like Walmart, Disney and Darden Restaurants for marketing healthier foods to children.

She also touted the launch of “Let’s Move Active Schools,” a $70 million initiative “to promote physical activity and bring physical education back to our schools,” Mrs. Obama said.

Last I read early this morning it's closed.

I believe it was yesterday I read that The Five on Fox, which I don't watch had offered the money for one week of tours. I believe it was about $70,000 and I thought that was a great gesture on their part.

Obama is trying to make a point, as usual, and I sincerely hope it comes back to bite him.

Ditto, and I for sure would not have been rewarded by buying the item I was demanding.

I have zero trouble going into a supermarket or restaurant and knowing instantly what is good and nutritious and what is not.

You are so right and it doesn't take a genius or a college graduate to know that.

Michelle is making kids ask for fruits by making their school meals so bad they will beg for anything except what they are feeding them.

I like fruits, but I seldom buy them in the store.
Apples are a luxury item about a dollar apiece. Oranges are just about as bad and forget Cherries. They are higher than Caviar.

Who can afford fruits?

I shop the specials. The fruits are not expensive in our area when done this way. I also grow my own in the summer and can them myself as well as dehydrating some.

This way I avoid pesticides. We grow a lot of Strawberries. Spinach is something that is very expensive here and the store never has a special. So I just plant a few pots in the fall, and bring them indoors in front of the patio door.

More than enough Spinach for about a dollar.

Sometimes if the fresh produce is very cheap, I buy a bunch and can it at home or dehydrate it. When fresh is not available, I buy frozen fruits and veggies on special.

‘Imagine’ an America Where Kids Beg for ‘More Fruits, Vegetables’ – ‘It is Possible To Create This World!'

Michelle, bless your little heart, if you want kids to eat fruit and veggies you ill have to pry their lips off the federal teat first.

Imagine an America where moms and their "friends with privileges" get off their lazy "Democrat mascots" and grow a garden, even a container garden, instead of expecting society to provide them with a never ending supply of free, perfectly proportioned meals.

If everyone is waiting for the handouts who is going to be left to grow the food?

Ants are smart enough to avoid aspartame.

Kinda humbling, isn’t it?

I’m so sick of this crap.

If she wants kids to be more healthy then tell her husband to make those on food stamps only to get veggies and fruit, that those on welfare can get healthy food with our money

Nah course not because the black community would turn against them in droves and with out the black community the left would not win in many elections

also how about those on food stamps who weigh over 150 pound and are only 5 foot.

The amount of times I see those using food stamps and the buying crap food wiht our money pisses me off

they want ways to make kids and the poor healthy then stop letting food stamps allow crap food, it shoudl only be veggies and fruit, and cereal.

As an African guy told me once.”the poor in my country are thin because they can;t buy their food but in America the poor are fatter than the rich”

that sums it up

they promote food stamos and welfare and yet let those on tose programs to get crap food.

Actually I wish there was pressure to change what you can buy on food stamps.

You see a woman height 5 foot and weighing in at 200 pound say she needs food stamops and welfare because she can;t afford food.

Really, can;t afford it, has she seen the size of her, screw that , stop this nonsense and make them have only veggies and fruit and lets see how many votes the looney left get then
