Certainly there are those who see a conspiracy behind every tree, none more so perhaps than Mac Slavo. Writing for his inelegantly named SHTF Plan, he points out that since President Obama was first elected in 2008, Americans have purchased more than 65 million guns, which averages one new gun purchase every 1.5 seconds. Says Slavo, this suggests there is much more than just people stocking up to go hunting or sports shooting. And then, without providing sources, Slavo ticks off the statistics: Smith and Wesson is running at full capacity, Ruger is ramping up production to meet demand, Armalite is maxed out, Colt is increasing its production runs, Springfield Armory is running 30-45 days behind, while Magpul is behind 1 MILLION (his bold) mags. Do not expect any large quantities anytime soon.
If the information you hear doesn't originate from Hornady Manufacturing, dont believe it.
Here are some of rumors we've heard, and questions we've received:
Have you stopped production, or has the government forced you to stop?
◦Not at all.
Did you stop selling bullets so you could only make loaded ammunition?
◦Absolutely not.
Since we cant find your product you must be selling it all to the government.
◦Nope, less than 5% of our sales are to government entities.
Why cant you make more? Ramp up production? Turn on all the machines?
◦ We've been steadily growing our production for a long time, especially the last five years. We've added presses, lathes, CNC equipment, people and space. Many popular items are produced 24 hours a day.
We are producing as much as we can; much more than last year, which was a lot more than the year before, etc. No one wants to ship more during this time than we do.

I have a hipoint .40 carbine and I love it love it love it.
I have fired 1000s of rounds out of it. (I load .40 so I shoot cheap)
Never ever one misfire. Never a failure to feed never a failure to eject. Nothing.
I put a forward grip and a cheap laser on the picatinny rails and a red dot on top. Shoots like a champ and is fun. That carbine is available in 9mm, .40, and .45 pistol calibers.
Never had experience with hipoint pistols. They weigh a ton but they have to to fight all that fixed barrel recoil...
You might want to purchase a few thousand cell phones too. I have heard that many people need those.
It does sound like a lot of patriots are buying enough guns and ammo to supply a small army. They just haven't started recruiting yet.
“...Funny thing is a couple of years ago I got my wife a 380 and couldn’t find any ammunition. Now it easy to find. Go figure.”
Get a .380 barrel for your Makarov. Mags should work and there is something to be said for multi-taskers.
I have a hipoint carbine in 9mm.
I only wish that they had designed it to take a standard double stack pistol magazine.
They are fun.
I didn't say they were the same. But both organizations have been maligned by the left who perceived/preceives them as a threat.
The "Birchers" have been around a very long time. People think they know who they are, but are often mistaken. I worked a gun show years ago in a John Birch Society booth trying to prompt gunowners to take a more active part in the political process (vote). It's amazing how few would even talk to us. Some who did thought we were a "communist" organization! Amazing. It shows how effective the left has been in covering its true character and mischaracterizing the JBS who are anything but. It's an Americanist organizatino who purpose in principally educational in nature.
How many Birchers hold high office, what major place do they hold in politics, what legislation are they moving forward or reversing, where are they in the real world of government and politics?
The tea party is real and effective, it gets things done, it has high ranking politicians.
Let's hope so. When it becomes an official "party", I reregister.
We know so already, Cruz, Palin, Paul, Senators, Congress members and Governors, it is a movement that produces, that looks outward and is fighting for change and results, it is not a closed circle of guys who have been selling each other books and sharing conspiracy theories and never leaving the house for the last 50 years.
As I indicated in my earlier post, JBS is not a politcal party. Right now the tea party is not a "party", but a collection of individuals from other parties (principally Republican and Libertarian) who embrace many, if not most, of the same ideals that the John Birch Society has been promoting for decades. (Allies, not enemies).
From a wiki page The Tea Party Movement
The Tea Party movement is an American political movement that advocates strict adherence to the United States Constitution, reducing U.S. government spending and taxes, and reduction of the U.S. national debt and federal budget deficit. The movement is generally considered to be partly conservative, partly libertarian, and partly populist. The movement has sponsored protests and supported political candidates since 2009.
How is The John Birch Society different from the Tea Party?
As mentioned earlier, The John Birch Society is not a politcal organization but rather educational. JBS President John F. McManus has spoken at various Tea Party rallies as well as at meetings of many other conservative organizations. The John Birch Society has been around for far longer, warning and educating regarding many of the same problems that Tea Party activists are now focused on. For over 50 years, since 1958, The John Birch Society has distributed an estimated total of well over 250 million pieces of literature ranging from warning about increased government spending, taxes, centrally planned inflation, the centralization of power in the government, and the gradual appeasement toward Communism to other topics heralding the virtues of sound money, withdrawing from the United Nations, and a foreign policy of non-interventionism.
You will find many in the Tea Party movement who are also John Birch Society members.
One of the John Birch Society's most prominent members was the late Congressman Larry McDonald
For the Tea Party to survive and thrive it must find like minded organzations (not drive them away).
I hope you are not part of the Tea Party outreach committee. You suck!
This is very bircher, no one has said anything about the tea party or the birchers being political parties, so why waste time on that.
Wow, 65 years and they produced a congressman who died in 1983.
Since he was a Bircher, I wonder if there are any conspiracy rumors about his death.
The tea party is focused on accomplishing change and taking leadership in elective office, not selling books to each other and sharing conspiracies while sitting at home.
I shot my Hi-Point 40cal carbine for the first time last night, I totally agree with you! Half as loud as my handgun, easy and fun....accurate too!
Nobody sucks worse than the bircher outreach, even in the 1960s when I would visit them, their weirdness would always emerge in every conversation.
“From gun broker, it looks like 7.62X39 is selling for around 40 cents a round.”
Monday I ordered 1000 rds Tula FMJ 7.62x39 from a reputable supplier and rec’d it Thursday (yesterday). I paid $280 incl shipping. I had requested they notify me when they got it in and they did so. They sold out quickly, but I got my order in before that happened. I have some other stuff for which I left requests for notification, and know they will honor that. And I LIKE 28 cents a round!
Guns were generally available, at prices only marginally higher than a year ago...except for the AR’s and the AK
Three weeks ago I saw the same thing at a local gunshow - they had what looked like a good supply - price was $400 per box of 1000 rds. I thought about buying a box, but decided not to do so. I did not see a big run on their stock at that price. And btw, for the most part there was very little ammo on sale at that show or at another I hit the same weekend. A year ago there was a lot of ammo - pistol, rifle, shotgun - on sale at that same show.
Someone needs to come up with a way to reload 22LR.
They would be Trillionaires.
Do the CCI factories produce anything but 22 and 22 magnum ammo? If they do, the government demanding immediate delivery of 1.6 billion rounds of 40 cal, etc. would cause CCI to stop producing the smaller calibers and go full blast into the government orders. of course, folks have not put this together properly, namely that the government odering a multi-years supply for this year delivery is a sure sign they KNOW the collapse is imminent and their resupply will be impossible for at least a few years.
You've repeated this mischaracterization twice. As important as knowledge is (the books and pamphlets which our founders also utilized), wisdom is even more so. The wisdom of gather allies, not alienating for example.
Some of the so-called conspiracies which have born out are now even recognized by the tea party: the threat presented by the UN, the threat presented by big government, the threat presented by another constitutional convention (con-con), the threat presented by communism/progressivism (whatever it is called this hour).
If the tea party can achieve its goals, great. But one should not alienate allies and bread ill will unnecessarily. My likening of the Tea Party to the John Birch Society was to show that the the left has employed the same techniques to marginalize and destroy. You foolishly do the same, when you should be finding friends not discouraging them.
You were trying to play the association game and piggy back onto the tea party.
Defend your bircher book club on it’s own, don’t try and exploit the tea party.
The tea party is real, and is effective, is powerful, and is even mainstream and prime time.
I don't think you are a tea party member. Anyone this obnoxious and counterproductive must be a democrat. Nice try.
LOL, the Bircher managed to come up with a conspiracy as to why a long time freeper would disagree with him and defend the tea party, the guy must has to be a secret democrat plant.
LOL, write a book on it and sell it to the other members.
