Mitt Romney says it "kills" him that he's not president. But he doesn't blame Superstorm Sandy, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie or anything else on his loss to President Barack Obama--except his campaign's failure to connect with minority voters.
“I lost my election because of my campaign," Romney said on "Fox News Sunday" in his first television interview since his November defeat, "not because of what anyone else did."
The former Massachusetts governor refused place blame on Christie, who some Republicans say elevated Obama in his embrace of the president in the wake of the storm.
Romney said his inability to win over black and Hispanic voters--and the damage done by those disastrous "47 percent" comments--ultimately derailed his White House bid.
Ann Romney, though, pointed the finger at the fourth estate. “It was not just the campaign’s fault," Ann Romney said. "I believe it was the media's fault as well, in that he was not being given a fair shake--that people weren’t allowed to really see him for who he was. ... I’m happy to blame the media.”
She added: “I totally believe at this moment, if Mitt were there in the office, that we would not be facing sequestration right now."

As a former Democrat myself there are some social issues that I’m at odds with conservatives on but that won’t stop me from voting for one to the White House. A conservative is a helluva lot better than an ultra-leftist or squishy moderate any day. My problem with the GOP is they are not selling the conservative agenda that has been successful but instead we’re getting this Democrat-lite message where we’re telling the voters that we’re more efficient at running badly bloated entitlement programs than the other party. That’s what I refer to as Democrat-lite. That moderate, middle-of-the-road agenda has failed to boost the GOP ranks and yet the establishment still follows it. Merely telling the voting public the same stale message of cutting taxes and streamlining programs just won’t do it anymore. I don’t care what the polls say. The vast majority of Americans are clamoring for leadership and they’re not getting it from either party. This is an opportunity to sell conservative ideas but what will the GOP do? It’ll be the same train wreck complete with Republicans afraid to take on the president and circular firing squads with moderates shooting down conservatives and conservatives themselves gunning down other conservatives. The Democrats are detrimental to the success and the future of the country so wouldn’t it be wise to stop the damn civil war in the GOP.
The problem is that there are two opposing political divisions within the GOP.
For instance, how do you turn conservatives pro-abortion and pro-homosexual agenda, and pro-Romneycare, and anti-gun, and pro-cussing in public?
Well then the establishment is brain dead if they think moderation and surrendering to Democrats is bringing hordes of voters to the Republican Party. We don’t need twenty first century versions of Everett Dirksen, Gerald Ford, and Bob Michel types who will acquiesce and find common ground with lefties. Oops my bad. We do have those types today in congress in John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and Mitch McConnell. The establishment never learns, do they? They still think they had a part in the electoral successes of 1994 and 2010.
Concur; it must be a sign of Stockholm Syndrome how many on FR denigrate the Republicans, who are largely without power, when it is primarily the Democrats who are destroying the country we knew and loved. Perhaps it is like being angry at your parents for not protecting you against the evil world; yet it is really getting stale to read the incessant and childish whining and impotent bitter threats. I figure they are so traumatized by the Democrats, and knowing they have lost to them, that they turn on the losing side like jackals on a carcass.
What you are saying is actually quite correct. The democrats talking points are much better organized than GOP. That is quite natural since republicans are basically conservative and independent thinking. Whereas democrats depend on power attained via big government. Their success depends on team effort.
As I have posted many times the socialist mantra of soaking the rich and get your fair share is very attractive to low information voters. That is how communism seduced the proud people of Russia and China. We all need to be aware of history. Obama has learned well from Alinsky.
GOP will need an extra-ordinarily skilled candidates to overcome the message of free stuff from the government for several election cycles.
Perhaps it was Romney campaigning for abortion and rejecting the party’s pro-life platform, or his being the father of Obama care and gay marriage, and his reaffirming his support for homosexualizing the military and Boy Scouts.
Could it be any of those things? You are the one suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, they have broken you and won your total submission, and as you are showing on this thread, you are now defending your captors as you turn on Reagan conservatives like a Rovian jackal.
The republican talking point is pro-life, anti-abortion, yet Mitt Romney’s talking points were pro-abortion, anti-life.
Don’t you think running people who oppose the party, might be the reason the GOP appears disorganized and confusing to the electorate.
I thought that Obamacare was going to be the biggest issue of 2012, and then suddenly, the man the GOP chose to oppose it, was the father of Obamacare, I still don’t have any idea how that made sense to anyone.

No kidding, tell that to the 9,809,662 voters who pulled the lever for the Massachusetts moderate. Santorum got 3,909,460, Newt got 2,720,135 and Rick got 2,063,043 votes.

B.) The one statement that he should have doubled down on to convince the Republican Base that Left-Wing RINO Romney actually might understand “WHEN YOUR OUTGO EXCEEDS YOUR INCOME, YOUR UPKEEP WILL BE YOUR DOWNFALL.”
C.) The only brave thing he said in his Campaign, until he apologized for it: “What I said was just completely wrong.”

It was a stupid senseless remark, that is why no one has any idea what it means or how it is defined.
All he said is that he doesn’t care about 47% of America, and all of America had to fill in the gaps for themselves, of course most people just decided that you can’t elect a man who shows such disdain for those who he would govern.
he lost because he wasnt tough enough, the 1st debate was good, in the ones after he waffled like an eggo.
the 47 % comment was unfortunate but his campaign could have put up many many obama comments that were worse, scary worse.

Yap, he did best among non-Romneys. Problem was there were too many non-Romneys running, dividing votes.
