KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The grandmother of a man shot in killed Wednesday outside a Dollar General Store in East Knoxville is sharing her thoughts on the incident and how her grandson will be remembered.
Wednesday night just before 8 p.m. there was a shootout between a robber and a store manager.
According to the Knoxville Police Department, an armed robber went into the Dollar General Store on Asheville Highway and the robber demanded money from the store's safe.
The store manager complied. The shooting occurred seconds later outside the store. The shooting happened in front of the store in the parking lot.
Multiple shots were fired. The robber was killed. As of now, police are not revealing the shooting victim's identity.
Mary Robinson is the grandmother of the robbery suspect. She found out her grandson had been killed two hours after the shooting occurred.
"Oh the pain, I can't describe the pain when they told me that. I just froze I couldn't do nothing, I just froze," said Robinson.
According to the Knoxville Police Department, the armed robber did get money from the store, but then only a few seconds after the robbery both the store manager and the robber went outside when an altercation occurred.
The robber was shot, then ran away. His body was found a block and a half away on Holston Drive.
The robbery suspect's grandmother wishes the store manager didn't shoot.

Are you kidding? He’s dead now he’s guaranteed to vote democrat.
This is actually pretty sad. From all appearances, the grandmother is a Christian, and tried to give Christian and moral input into her grandson’s life.
But something else was stronger. Peer influence? Public schools? Rap music? Whatever it was, he’s dead.
I bet the young man wanted to go to school and start a family
The robber was shot, then ran away.
His body was found a block and a half away on Holston Drive.
The grandmas usually say "He shouldn't have took the law into his hands."
It's OK for their grandbabies to rob and kill people, and it's not OK for anybody to stop them.
“The grandmother of a man shot in killed Wednesday outside a Dollar General Store in East Knoxville is sharing her thoughts on the incident and how her grandson will be remembered.”
Is not the proper way to “remember” him that he died as a criminal who was in the process of committing an armed robbery?
Change my sig for that one
Armed robber killed tied to five other robberies, victim speaks out
Five robberies in three weeks.
The Dollar general guy should get a medal as he undoubtedly saved a life or two: "According to police, the suspect in those incidents was very aggressive during the robberies and the level of aggressiveness was increasing with each robbery committed."
“She should probably be shot too. She raised and released this scourge on to society. (probably 8 others just like him too)”
Reading comprehension seems not to be your strong point, assuming you actually read the article. The grandmother of the dead criminal did try to acculturate him. Note the references to taking him to church?
Church is a significant part of traditional American black social structure.
Unfortunately, so is the Pooblik Skrewl Kollective, race card playing entitlement mongers, ad nauseam.
Give the grandmother credit. In the midst of discussing her loss, she did say her dead grandson had made a mistake. That is, to me, a sure sign of character on her part.
That woman is a lot more honest than most of the Regime and its leader.
Yeah, he wanted to be a graphic designer.
Dollar General seems to attract lots of these types. I remember when two robbers were reduced to room temp after robbing a DG not long ago.
Think of all the stores and people that WON’T be robbed because the robbers won’t be around to rob them.
However, living in the south the past two years, I saw much of this. Strong, old-school, mostly in-tact, black families losing their youth to the thug culture.
Empty...just an emptiness in those eyes. Like there is no soul living in him.
Good riddance I say! The store manager should be commended, another little punk off the streets.

I think the vice-prez should be suspended for pointing his fingers in an unsafe direction. Lord know our kids would be suspended from school if they acted so "stupidly" and performed such a stunt!
Where’s mom and dad?
Oh no, he will still be voting for years to come.
To get a good idea of what we Knoxvillians think of subhuman vermin like the one here that (”that” deliberately used instead of “who,” even though I’ll often use “who” in referring to loving, decent dogs) got a permanent dirt nap, just read the comments to the story.
