No, Jesse Jackson Jr. wouldn't be the first to purposefully slow-walk that yearslong walk. Not the first to delight in secret luxuries and expensive acquisitions along a reliable, efficient path to the self-destruction of his career and his reputation.
Imagine, though, the depth of conniving, or self-delusion, or entitlement, or sheer audacious recklessness, that the federal accusations against Jackson would have required of him. What the feds on Friday suggested had happened here is a sustained crime spree that could succeed only if a man ensnarled by elaborate financial reporting requirements somehow kept it all secret.

the members of Congress, the Senate and the rest of DC do this daily with complete impunity, how did Jr gt so unlucky as to get hung up in it? God seems to give many evil people a complete pass.

What could he do that could possibly embarrass his "famous father" (the churchless reverend) more than he has already embarrassed himself?
This is SOP for a whole lot of elected gummit employees, sad to say.
Jr. was taught from a young age by his father & hometown hustlers that any time you get over on the White man and his unjust and unfair system, you are entitled to those rewards, whether they are legal or not.
When, in a country which was founded on the immutable principles of right and wrong, its leadership justifies and practices the "taking" of earnings from some, in order to pretend to a right to "redistribute" it to others of their own choosing, why is there shock that an individual, surrounded by that ideology, might succumb to personal temptation to do the same?
So-called "progressives" have, for decades, turned America's founding principles upside down, and we are seeing consequences of such departure from principle, both individually and as a nation.
We might wish to consider the following:
"1. Does this legislation or idea increase, or decrease, individual freedom and creativity?
"2. Does this legislation or idea increase, or decrease, the power of some citizens over other citizens?
"3. Does this legislation or idea recognize that the persons who will exercise the power are themselves imperfect human beings?
"4. Does this legislation or idea recognize that government is incapable of creating wealth?
"5. Does this legislation or idea authorize taking from some what belongs to them, and giving it to others to whom it does not belong?
If 'thou shalt not steal' is a valid commandment, can we assume that it is meant to apply only to individuals and not to government (which is made up of individuals), even if those persons in power pass laws which sanction such redistribution of the wealth of others?'

I don't know if Jesse Jackson has ever had a real job. Ever since I first heard of him, he was always the head of some civil rights group, or was leading some Foundation, all of which depended on donations from like minded folks. Of course, in more recent years, Jesse went for all out extortion against companies, using his Rainbow Coalition.
Jr. learned from his Daddy that you can live well off other people's money.
Dang! If only they had succeeded we'd be well on the road to impeachment about now.

The Trib is bemoaning that Jr. squandered all the good he could have done. Yeah right!
The damn Trib endorsed this guy, so this has to be a very half-hearted mea culpa on their part. The Trib knew Jr. was dirty. Had even tried to buy the Illinois senatorship but Blagojevich wanted it more.

Jesse, Jr. may be a very corrupt man, with a very corrupt wife, but his father is no paragon.
He had an affair, and hid it, and was a hypocrite about it; and while I have never heard of him being an out-and-out thief I think he’s a shakedown artist of the first water.
I also read a very sympathetic article about Jr. which clearly gave the impression that the old man was always most reluctant to share the spotlight in any way.
That does not excuse anything wrong the son did, apple tree, that’s all I’m saying.

Bwahahahahahahahha...Jesse is a well known womanizer and that reputation goes back to the 1950s. He has never spent a night alone.
It pretends to be shocked, shocked that Jackson fils is a thief and an arrogant thief, at that, who thought his crimes would never be discovered. What the newspaper means is that junior assumed that as the son of The Reverend Jesse Jackson, the wildly successful race hustler and pet of the political left, he was invincible and wouldn't be held accountable, even if found out. That was the goal of all the 'mental breakdown' BS he pulled prior to being charged by the feds.
Obviously, Jesse Jackson, Jr. has crossed the Obama machine in some way and is being taken out of circulation. Daddy can't save him and likely won't try too hard except to claim - all together now - 'racism'! Of course, Jesse Jackson thinks a cloudy day only occurs because he's black. He can be dismissed, as he usually is by sensible people. As for Junior, he finally found the limits of license.
I hope he goes to jail but I'll believe that when it happens. Lots of tears, 'counseling' and fines along with having to pay a lot of the money back is about what I expect, unless Obama is really POed at Junior. If so, like Rod Blagojevich, he may actually do some real prison time, just like an ordinary person that steals for pure greed and thinks they are above the law - until they get caught. Whatever happens, Junior won't be missed by many.
