Former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. was charged in federal court Friday with conspiring to use campaign funds for personal use -- in an alleged $750,000 spending spree that included purchases of a gold-plated Rolex and pricey children's furniture.
It had been expected that a plea agreement would be entered into court Friday, but that agreement is apparently still pending.
Instead, federal prosecutors charged Jackson Friday with conspiracy. Prosecutors separately charged his wife Sandi with filing false federal tax returns, but according to her attorney she has reached a plea agreement.
In a statement, the former Illinois Democratic congressman said he offers "no excuses."

I don’t see how he’ll get a slap on the wrist; he already agreed to a plea deal that includes a lot of jail time.....Five years IS a slap on the wrist. For an elected official, he should get 20 years for the amount of money they PROVED he stole. How much more graft was in this shitbags past? And the article said he plea dealt, so part of that will be NO jail time (what else is there to deal?), deal with it on the taxpayers dime at a hospital,and run again in three years.

Jackson Sr. very quite about this matter, actually quite lately in general. Going after Jackson Jr. and cutting him off the tit is killing two birds with one stone. Jesse Jackson Sr. has been totally demasmasculated and his power source has been completely checked! Going after Jr. sends a strong and deadly message to both Jr., Jr’s wife and Sr.!
