Physicians caring for Hugo Chávez in Havana have notified his family, the Castro brothers, and the main chavista leaders that their patient will no longer be able to return to his functions as president of Venezuela.
This is according to sources in direct contact with his medical team, who also indicate that Chávez has lost his voice completely as a result of medical treatment. His vocal cords have endured permanent damage making recuperation highly unlikely. Speechless and unable to move from the bed in which he has spent the last two months, our sources tell us the president is very depressed.
A public announcement by the government explaining that Chavez will be unable to resume his duties will be released in the upcoming days, and has already been circulating among members of the Supreme Court. . .

Cuba’s health care system couldn’t cure him?? Oh well, at least it was free./s
Where will poor Joe Kennedy get his give away oil now ?
I don’t think he’s lost his voice at all. I think he’s been in a coma; hooked up to life support. He can’t talk because he’s out of it. My humble opinion.
The new guy will crack down.
That will either work, or cause a counter-revolution.
Where’s the photo of the parrot?
Actually, there are two parrots in Hugo’s life: the one he used to carry around that wore a red beret, and the parrot of Monty Python, as in “He’s not dead, ‘e’s just longing for the fjords...” Although of course the parrot was quite dead.
He’s either been out of it or downright dead for a long time, and they can’t cover it up anymore.
A few weeks ago, the Spanish press published a photo of him, hooked up to tubes and clearly non compos, which had been smuggled out of Cuba by a Spanish woman who had visited a relative who was working as a nurse in Chavez’ special ward (in the special government dignitaries hospital, set up for Castro’s “health episodes”). The Venezuelan government threatened to sue, but it was a pretty half hearted threat, since they all knew that he was either dead or about one-10th of a step from death’s door.
Well, I'm over it. Pitchers and catchers report for Spring Training today. Play ball!
Americans could sure use some good news like that right about now.
I did not know that, thanks for the info.
Go Cardinals!
Like so many here I detested Chavez and his leftist loving arrogancy but I do hope he asked Christ to forgive him and eternally save his soul. Truly amazing how deeply Christ forgives us as we all deserve hell but if we call on Him He will save us from it and to enter Heaven instead.
Don’t forget FDR!
Absolutely! It's uncharacteristic of me to exclude him from rogue's gallery of the eternally damned. In many of my posts, I refer to him as Franklin Diablo Roosevelt. Close to 90% of what's wrong with America can be attributed to New Deal and his so-called "Brain" Trust. Added to parade of truly evil people from that era include Harry Hopkins, Henry Wallace (of course) and the oft-forgotten Frances Perkins. Come to think of it, she may actually be the very worst of whole bunch. For FReepers who haven't researched the story of this wicked woman, you'll be astounded at her relentless pursuit of America's destruction.
Chavez and his family pillaged the country and live like royalty. It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
I wonder if Obama will give a teary eyed speech to lament the loss of his comrade. Let’s remember, Chavez has a successor planned. Nothing is changing in Venezuela, nor any of its satellite states.
I think he has been dead for a while now. Because of the recent election, The ruse of Chavez in the hospital for treatment has been used to placate the opposition.
I would guess that the ruling party is feeling confident in its ability to rule, so the decision has been made to allow Chavez to, ‘die’.
Cindy Sheehan is in mourning.
With all the bad news....finally some good news!!!
