This is a TRUELY great show. This was the type of vets we had when I grew up on a farm in C. Iowa(Boone County, Ogden). All the Vets we had/used were kind of rough around the edges but had a heart of GOLD for animals.
Already watching it and love it, look forward to seeing more shows. :)

This guy(Dr Pol) is what a REAL Vet looks like. Not the POS PU$$IES on “Animal Planet”. This is the Un-Varnished truth.

I agree. Have been watching for a couple of weeks now. It’s a little gross at times... like pulling the dead calves from cows... but, all the same, just a great show.

I’ve watched a number of episodes of Dr. Pol and have wondered how they clean up after the pregnancy inspections and calf deliveries they perform. Both Dr. Pol and Dr. Brenda are often covered in “gunk” (technical term) and manure after these procedures. Even the long gloves, boots and coveralls couldn’t catch all that mess or avoid the stench. What must those Jeeps smell like?
My family watched this show last year, so there are plenty of reruns to catch up on, if you crave more. I’ve grown to love this guys cheerful, and yet no-nonsense nature.
Just for fun, I would like to see the vets on the show doing the same things with washing machines and cleanup problems. They certainly show the grosser moments in their jobs—how ‘bout the cleanup?
Probably antibiotics to be used when he sews up cuts and gashes on his cattle or dogs.......I think the nearest town big enough to have a vet was about 55 miles away so that's why they do most of the minor stuff themselves.
Me too as one of our trainers trains dogs for the state police.
And YOU would be RIGHT! Most farmers(at least the “Old-School” ones that I grew up with) are almost like Vets w/out the “Degree”. About the ONLY time my Dad and Farmers like my Dad would call/or visit the Vet’s Office or have the vet come to the farm was in the event of DIRE Emergency. Most Older Farmers have a Vet they like and they stick with that one for YEARS!
We have been watching since it started. Not everybody agrees with his style of treatment, if you do a search on whatever search engine you prefer you can find out some of their complaints. We don’t have a problem with his treatment of his patients but we do not use him as our vet. You have to decide for yourself.
I’ll be looking for it...haven’t seen it yet.
It’s kinda gross, so if you have a “Tender” Constitution ya might want to skip this one.
As a side note, the place my buddies and I used to go to hunt was a tiny little town called Logan Ks. The farmer who let us stay at his farm house actually lived in town with his wife and he was the president of the only little bank in the town.
He'd get up at 4:00 a.m., head out to the farm and do his farm stuff, then head back to town to get cleaned up to head to the bank.
When the bank closed in the afternoon, he'd head home, change and head back out to the farm to finish up doing his farm stuff...usually by dark.
An incredibly hard life if you ask me.
Another little tidbit, he uses greyhounds to hunt coyotes out there which I had never heard of before.......
Darn, just checked my cable line-up and NatGeo WILD isn’t in my package....
