Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) will deliver the Republican response to President Obama's State of the Union address on Feb. 12.
Rubio's response will be delivered in both English and Spanish, according to Speaker John Boehner's (R-Ohio) office.
"Marco Rubio is one of our partys most dynamic and inspiring leaders. He carries our partys banner of freedom, opportunity and prosperity in a way few others can. His familys story is a testament to the promise and greatness of America," Boehner said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Hell deliver a GOP address that speaks from the heart to the hopes and dreams of the middle class; to our partys commitment to life and liberty; and to the unlimited potential of America when government is limited and effective," added Boehner.
Rubio, a Tea Party favorite, said he would discuss limited government in his response.
"Im honored to have this opportunity to discuss how limited government and free enterprise have helped make my familys dreams come true in America," said Rubio.
According to a Rubio aide, the response will focus on policies to aid the middle class. The Cuban-American lawmaker is also likely to discuss immigration.
Rubio's selection to deliver the GOP response is the latest sign of the freshman senator's increasing prominence within the Republican Party. The junior senator is viewed as key to attracting more Hispanic voters to the GOP and is at the center of speculation as a potential 2016 presidential contender
Rubio's response also comes as he has taken a prime role in negotiations over crafting an immigration reform deal. He signed on to a bipartisan Senate blueprint for immigration reform unveiled last week and has taken the lead in selling conservative lawmakers on the plan.

Very, very smart move for the GOP. We can win the next election if we become the Latino Party. And by that, I do not mean amnesty. I mean an equal partnership between Anglos and LEGAL Latinos.
PC term for illegal aliens : border challenged.
You mean “press 1 for English” wasn’t enough?
It's always better to pander bare.
He should do it in the nude...
Now that would cross all languages barriers!! I’m in!
America's new flag
How ‘bout delivering the response in Conservative ?
I hope to miss both drivels.
I notice it’s the ladies who are advocating this.
No. Catering to Latinos does not mean overturning our immigration laws. But let me point out that Ronald Reagan allowed amnesty for 2.7 million illegal immigrants in the 1980s.
I think that amnesty for ALL illegals would be a slap in the face to the millions of Latinos who went through the proper legal channels and are on a legal path to citizenship. But I also think we could crack open the door just a little bit for illegals who are working, who have been here at least five or six years, and haven’t broken any other laws.
One other thing: I think that as a party, we need to dial back the rhetoric. We need to be a lot more sensitive about this. Just being sensitive costs us absolutely nothing, and could gain millions of votes in the next election.
touche! well played sir...
BUMP!
We need to find someone else to give the Conservative Response!!
Extremely dumb move. The vast majority of illegal immigrants will NEVER vote for a Conservative, much less a Republican.
The RATS know quite clearly they will checkmate our Republic with Amnesty. Rubio is moving ahead with his so called immigration plan, knowing quite well it will result if full and absolute amnesty. He is trying to play the angle of "secure borders, blah blah blah" to fool conservatives while at the same time spouting out to the illegals, hoping to win their votes -- He will fail miserably.
Rubio's Conservatism can never match Reagan's, except in rhetoric.
Rubio will be as big a disappointment as the Bushes.
I have no intention of being "sensitive" toward the government that allowed this insane situation to occur.
Out elected representatives were derelict in their sworn duty to uphold our sovereignty and secure our borders.
Now, they confront a problem of their own making -- and want to take the easy way out.
Give me one good reason to be "sensitive" toward them.
Sensitivity regarding 0bama’s eligibility status too, because he’s black? That worked out well, didn’t it.
I take it you don't check the FReeper page before posting.
In support of your notion, are you aware that two separate polls of legal Hispanics revealed a 2-to-1 majority against amnesty? About 60/32, as I recall.
And why not? Many legal Hispanics are of families that have been American for hundreds of years. Or they are of families which did it the hard way, the right way -- immigrated legally and were naturalized.
It is the La Raza activist crew that is promoting amnesty for illegals -- not the Americans of Hispanic descent.
The GOP only gets abouut 30% of the Hispanic vote. The way things are, there's no telling what percentage of that vote is by illegals. And there is a virtual certainty that every one of the GOP's Hispanic votes is coming from an anti-amnesty legal Hispanic.
Therefore, should the Republicans jump on the amnesty bandwagon, risk losing every damn Hispanic vote they're getting now!
