After Democrats in New York rammed a sweeping assault on the right to keep and bear arms through the legislature that failed to exempt police officers from the draconian restrictions, gun owners and even some lawmakers are planning what has been dubbed potentially the largest act of civil disobedience in state history. According to news reports, gun rights activists are urging everyone to defy far-left Governor Andrew Cuomos new registration mandate while daring authorities to come and take it.
Analysts say the legislation, passed in a frenzy last week in the wake of the Newtown shooting, represents the most brazen infringement on the right to keep and bear arms anywhere in the nation. Among other points, the so-called SAFE Act seeks to limit magazines to just seven bullets, require virtually all of the estimated one million semi-automatic rifles in the state to be registered with authorities, mandate reporting of patients who express indications that they may have thoughts about hurting themselves or others by doctors, and more.
Aside from being unconstitutional, experts on gun violence also point out that the draconian schemes are a bad idea: Studies have repeatedly shown that more guns lead to less crime, and the phenomenon is obvious across America just compare Chicago or D.C. to Alaska or Wyoming. The mandated reporting requirements for doctors, meanwhile, have come under fire from across the political spectrum. Whether it will even be possible to enforce the bill, however, remains to be seen.
Preparations are already being made for mass resistance. Ive heard from hundreds of people that theyre prepared to defy the law, and that number will be magnified by the thousands, by the tens of thousands, when the registration deadline comes, said President Brian Olesen with American Shooters Supply,

Ithaca is the city of evil. An extreme Marxist college town. I hunt 30 miles due south. And it is night and day.
This is exactly what Cuomo and the Democrats, along with some RINOs did with gay marriage and this so-called "SAFE" act, votes late at night and violating state law by not allowing the 72 hour review period before voting on a bill. It's flat-out tyranny and we're pushing back! Nobody I know is going to register their rifles.
Civil disobedience is how we will win, folks.
Gun owners need to start sitting at Liberal lunch counters and taking seats at the front of the bus, figuratively speaking. Peacefully, of course. Educate the ignorant while defying unjust laws. They cannot arrest all of us.
And, as the Civil Rights Movement of the 60s proved, when a cause is just and millions dare to join hands in support of it, millions more will follow. We've got the guns and the numbers. Power to the people.
Such was my impression at the time.
You are very Welcome.

Wow, I hadn’t seen that. Wonder how many took the offer?
This is simply a call for citizens to demand that politicians and federal workers be banned from owning guns. Cite democide to support your case.
If it was so important to get this law rammed through so fast, why did they give so long to enforce it? Aren’t “lives going to be lost”/sarc?
Maybe they should get a taste of their union thug support’s medicine. The slow drive-bys while they’re out front washing their car, the brick through the front window, the spray paint across the front of their house, the slashed tires, the ominus note tacked to the front door, the slow trail as they drive their kids to school, the impromptu greeting at the grocery store, “hello State Senator...., you voted for the gun ban didn’t you? Have a nice day.” etc., etc.,....
I think you're on the wrong site.
You do realize that Lexington and Concord were the result of the Brits trying to disarm the colonists right?
Further the "law" you speak of doesn't trump the God given unalienable right to keep and bear arms that is enumerated in Constitution. Go spout your nonsense drivel somewhere else. ...try the Democratic Underground or HuffPo.
Ever since this hit people have been joining our TEA party group in droves, across party lines. Yesterday I had another meeting with guys that are ready to take arms. This has awoken a sleeping giant and the anger I see right now is like nothing in years. I hope it stays this time.

My daughter says as soon as she turns 21 in a few weeks, she’s applying for a pistol permit.
My son is looking into the same.
If my oldest daughter gets the job she wants with law enforcement in forensics, I think she’s going for it too.
Well, and then there’s that crusty old document with that hard to understand line in it “—shall not be infringed.”
I’ll be waiting for a cop carrying a fifteen round magazine to try to put the arm on a guy with a ten rounder. That should be just plain entertaining when it gets to court? Cops all over New York turned in their six shot revolvers decades ago (I bought a few of them at the time) so I know they don’t have them to fall back on. I also know they’re not going to restock now because the country is pretty much sold out.
The link seems to take me to the TEA party for WNY.
Do you have a listing of other TEA Party chapters that you can post a link to? Like for CNY?
