Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Thursday will celebrate the launch of a newly rebranded organization called the 100,000 Strong Foundation, which aims to have 100,000 American students studying in China by 2014.
Thursday's event will "underscore the importance of study abroad in China and the benefits to our strategic relationship with China as well as the personal benefits individuals receive through these exciting experiences," the news release said.
Until now, the 100,000 Strong Initiativeannounced by President Obama on his trip to China in 2009has operated inside the State Department. Thursday's 1 p.m. ceremony marks its transition to a non-profit, nongovernmental organization operating independently.

They need to be taught to welcome our new Chinese overloards.
Two words:
Trouble ahead.
China is an example of what goes wrong when you don’t give individual freedom to all. One can only make economic distractions for so long until people want more than the latest gadget.
Might as well start learning the language and culture...they are gonna be working for ‘em anyway...
There are so many Chinese nationals studying in the US.
China has no problem recruiting spies that they would trust much more than American citizens.
Remember, Chinese nationals that spy would likely only get deported if caught, compared to American citizens that would get charged with treason and go to prison here for ever and not be subject to prisoner swaps.
Flood China with Americans and open their society up the fastest way.
If we’d done that to Cuba Castro wouldn’t have survived the 80’s.
Do they really need them? President Clinton and the Loral CEO sent them missile guidance know-how; and who knows what the current Marxist provides...
I don't mean to slough off the risks. China is very nationalistic, and land hungry (every square inch that they may have inhabited in the past belongs to them) - which may get mismanaged by our incompetents in the Administration into a shooting war. But I maintain our biggest risks and jeopardies are from ourselves. A Government that treats the people as serfs, and a Godless and entitled culture permeating our land...
Hah! I could see that...
'Embrace diversity!'
The reason why we know all about the one-child policy and forced abortions and sterilizations is because of an American doing doctoral research when he bumped into it.
Anywho, Hillary and Obama must be somehow slipping into panic mode if they think they need Marxist reinforcements.
Although they will probably be hand picked for the depth of their indoctrinated state, maybe, just maybe, some of these occupier trainees will learn there are no labor unions or govt funded health insurance in China.
They will probably be kept out of the larger cities where the air pollution is catastrophic.
Not very socialist in China - just tyrannical. The way it will be here once the govt no longer bothers to buy votes.
“What do mean I gotta take two years of calculus
I wanted to study Medieval Lesbian Poetry”
Interesting that this comes one day after they decide to make US Government an elective in DC Schools.
Bwahahahaha!!
Assuming it will be on a volunteer basis, all those who choose to join this program will be commi-loving liberals anyway. I say let them go. Some may even turn moderate or conservative after they learn communism isn’t as cool as their hippie drug dealer said it was.
I dunno. The ChiCom government may come to regard the invasion of 100,000 spoiled, pampered, me-firster Millenials about as warmly as they’d welcome another outbreak of the plague.
I wonder what the Japanese think of this.
Because we just can’t develop enough home grown communists, we need to have China help! Maybe we could have them study with Jackie Chan who has said that America is the most dangerous country in the world, used to like Jackie but he will never make another penny off me.
I doubt we could flood their society. 1st, its old, really old, with traditions they can trace back across generations. People don’t give that stuff up easily if ever. Getting past Confucianism, which promotes the society over the individual, will be nearly impossible. 2nd, China is MASSIVE. I don’t think we have a good idea of just how small 100K is in a land of 1.344 billion. They have city-sized populations of people dedicated to maintaining “cultural purity”.
Agreed, 100k is miniscule over all. However, the Chinese intelligentsia are very hungry for in-person American contact and culture.
Our 100k would be mixing with their future leaders and have a disproportionate influence. Networking when young often carries huge connection benefits later.
Mix it up, get global, less shooting.
Most of them already are - or near as makes no difference.
Not what I mean. These camps are a 1 way ticket.
