What's your view of Fontana school police buying high caliber rifles [SIC] and storing them at local schools?

Vote
Much needed sanity to protect the school.
52.24% safer
Only if parents can be similarly armed on school property.
now 58 % safer. This poll won’t stay up long.
62.45%, moving upward quite well apparently.
IMHO this action clearly shows how corrupted the discussion has become.
The issue is NOT the mere presence of high powered rifles or assault weapons. It is about protecting unarmed children from a predator.
The police reaction to a shooting at this school will be the same, 10 to 20 minutes (national average 9-1-1 response is around 23 minutes), wither the guns are stored there or not. In fact, the actual reaction will be greater since the responding officers will have to go to the armory (aka storage location) to get their guns instead of responding directly from their police vehicles.
During those 15 to 25 minutes the predator will be free to shoot, kill, and reload as many times as he can.
The only way to reduce that free fire time in a gun free zone is to have an armed and trained response force on site when ever the school is opened for business; this includes any and all after school events.
That doesn’t make any sense. Does that mean if parents “generally” aren’t allowed to bear arms on school campuses the school police shouldn’t be allowed to do so either? I know parents of school children, who I wouldn’t trust with a squirt-gun.
What is the point in having firearms locked up inside the school? If it is going to serve a purpose, we need members of the school staff with individual access to firearms at will. I would suggest allowing teachers with a permit to carry on school grounds, perhaps with permission of the principal.

I live fairly close to this city and this should be only a beginning. The Inland Empire portion of Southern California is out of control. Heavy laden with gangs, drugs, illegal aliens, unemployment last I heard 14 - 20% or higher. You are not safe here.

No, it's not the only way. Just let people carry.
A bunch of armed parents could take care of a shooter.

How many lives would have been saved if the principal in Sandy Hook had been armed? Instead she THREW herself at the gunman guaranteeing instant death for herself and those poor children.
Done!
