Lego has been accused of racism by the Turkish community over a Star Wars model that supposedly resembles one of Istanbuls most revered mosques.
trias Turkish community said the model was based on Hagia Sophia mosque in Istanbul and that the accompanying figures depicted Asians and Orientals as people with deceitful and criminal personalities.
The Turkish Cultural Community of Austria released a statement calling for Lego to apologise for affronting religious and cultural feelings.
The anger was provoked by Jabbas Palace, a model of the home of Jabba the Hutt from Legos Star Wars product range based on the blockbusting series of science fiction films

Sure it’s a race. The finish line is somewhere in the 7th Century.

One of the funny things about this to me, is that until fairly recently, all Lego minifigs were yellow. They introduced black minifigs with a basketball series some years ago.

And why is Lego racist and not Star Wars? No idea. They have no excuse for Star Wars, there are no muslims in Star Trek because it is set in the future...

They were. I remember reading a press release by CAIR, stating that in movies such as The Golden Voyage of Sindbad Sindbad and the Eye of the Tiger, Aladin or the Star Wars movies, the villain often looks or is identified as a Muslim. What they failed to note was that in the first three movies I mentioned, everyone with a speaking part is Muslim.

Hey, thanks for the close translation. Just for accuracy's sake, it is "ölebilir," without the qualifier, "siniz."
You made me look it up.
