Another day, another school shooting.

Our gun rights are going to disappear forever unless something drastic happens like--

The NRA, with some big money, needs to produce an ad with hundreds of "assault weapons" owners standing in a room -- or on a hillside -- maybe thousands.

And then someone needs to say something like "Every one of us standing here own at least one of these so-called 'assault weapons'; and know what? Of all the 1,394 weapons we own, not one of them has harmed or killed anyone.

"Now tell me -- what will taking these 'assault weapons' away from these people do to combat gun crime in this country?

"Answer? Nothing. There are many things that can be done, but banning any type of weapon is not -- repeat NOT -- the answer."

I say attack in another direction they’re not expecting. Concentrate forces on something that will make Obama look bad. Pit him against Israel or something.

What would be more powerful would be a series of commercials where average people have used firearms to defend themselves and their family.

Imagine a father talking about how he defended his family from a home invasion.

A woman who protected herself from a rapist.

A grandmother who shot a mugger.

Then throw some powerful stats at the end of each.

I like the idea, but I think it needs to be incorporated into this method.

There are enough guns for each person in this country. They will never be taken away. Who will come and take them? China? Obama can be tied up in courts for decades. Have you missed the Sheriffs saying that they will not enforce Federal laws against the second amendment? The actual shootouts will be round 12 of the fight but it will not go that far.

We also could use some exposure on urban vs rural shootings with the question about how the democrats can justify punishing rural people who clearly have nothing to do with an urban problem.

The Founding Fathers didn't put the 2nd Amendment in the Bill of Rights so their descendants could comfortably stay home while the NRA runs ads to preserve those Rights.

If that's your idea of how best to preserve them, you don't deserve them.

1. You hand your gun over to the enemy and throw yourself on their mercy.

2. You fall over dead beside your gun, slain by the enemy.

Until either of those occur, you have the right, regardless of what some sheet of paper says.

The timing on these latest gun attacks is just unbelievably bad for defenders of the second ammendment and provides more fuel for Obama’s anti-gun agenda just at the time he needs it.

I don't own an assault weapon.
Those were tightly restricted by the National Firearms Act of 1934.

I do own a Tyranny Response Rifle.

It's not just Obama who is hostile to an armed public, and the hostility isn't "new." The point of regulations is to reduce the rate of gun ownership over time - generations, if that's what it takes. Some people will be criminalized out of possession, some will be killed over it, others will drop out of ownership because the administrative hoops are a hassle. The courts will UNIFORMLY enforce most regulation. Federal appellate courts have upheld bans on 11 round magazines, post-Heller.

That the sheriffs won't enforce federal laws is a freebie, a throwaway line. They don't and can't enforce ANY federal law. That is outside of their jurisdiction.

I don't have the answer or a solution, but until the public realizes that the government is hostile, the ratchet is only going to work against the public.
