A 15-year-old was arrested Sunday for killing a family just outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico Saturday evening using the weapon that's dominated much of the gun control conversation -- the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
An unidentified 15-year-old was arrested and charged for killing all five people. Several weapons were found inside the house, including a military style assault rifle.

Cool your jets. The police haven't identified the shooter yet, but they released the age of teh shooter, but the local media has apparently talked to neighbors, who would know the names involved.

Gee, I think a 15 year old with an AR-15 would’ve been stopped if only we had more gun laws. Clearly, he would’ve obeyed the law. /s

I don’t doubt that the story is true.. reporting of it is likely shoddy and incomplete.
Regardless of politics, anyone who owns guns should realize, especially with adolescents and teenagers that they are ruled by hormones, their peers, and often times just a screwed up outlook that is influenced by many factors: homelife, government schools, other teenagers, possible drugs, dopers and dealers too.
I have an extensive collection of guns. Each and every one of them is locked up (the gunsafes are double-locked) where my grown children can’t get them, nor my grandchildren, if I am not here.
I don’t care how reasonable or reliable they seem - they do not have open access. My wife knows how to find the keys/combinations, etc., but she’d have to get into my wallet to do that.
Seems like the same crime could have been done with a New York legal 7 shot clip handgun.
If the kid had known how much the rifle, ammo, and magazines were worth on the market today he probably would have just sold the stuff.
This would not have happened if the only firearm the kid could get a hold of was a 30-30 Winchester rifle, like the one Harry Tracy used to kill 11 policemen back in 1902!

Yes, if only they had been shot with a .30-06 bolt action, or maybe a .45-70 lever gun, everything would have been OK. They’d all still be dead as a Democrat’s soul, but at least the leftists would feel alright about it because it wasn’t a scary “military style” rifle. As I always ask, how many million AR-15 or other so-called “assault rifles” were NOT used in crimes today? Crickets from the left.
