Keeping it short and sweet, there are a number of state level bills pending that will attempt to nullify the statist gun grabbers. Do we have a state chapter response designed to support these bills? If not, then why?
Moderators, can somone contact Mr. Robinson and get somethiong going? A dedicated activist page linked to the bills and people pushing them. Lists of state level allies who may need local support that could be provided by Freepers. Lists of Freepers that would be willing to BE those volunteers AND maybe recruit more from the local communities.
Comments, people?
bttt
Now you’re talking! We need a few comrades in arms to get us off the endless keyboarding and into the town square.
Here in Illinois we don’t have anyone pushing nullification (yet), but we do have a full court press going to get conceal carry:
Synopsis of HB0154:
Creates the Family and Personal Protection Act. Provides that the Department of State Police shall issue a license to carry a loaded or unloaded handgun to an applicant that meets specified qualifications, has provided the application and specified documentation, and has submitted the requisite fees. Provides that a license to carry a handgun entitles a licensee to carry a loaded handgun, either concealed or openly, on or about his or her person or in a vehicle, except in certain prohibited locations. Provides that the license shall be issued by the Department of State Police within 45 days of receipt from a sheriff and shall be valid throughout the State for a period of 5 years from the date of issuance. Provides for renewal of licenses. Establishes qualifications for licensees, certified firearms instructors, and instructor trainers. Provides for home rule preemption. Provides that the provisions of the Act are severable. Amends the Freedom of Information Act. Prohibits from inspection and copying information about applications for licenses to carry a handgun and about license holders contained in the database created by the Family and Personal Protection Act, except as authorized by that Act. Amends the State Finance Act and the Criminal Code of 2012 to make conforming changes. Effective immediately.
This is being put forward by Representative David Reis (R), 109th District, so we need folks to get behind this and make it know we will not settle for less than what is ours by right.
Showing support for the good, as in legislative efforts happening, beats sitting in the gloom scowling for the bad occuring.
We are not taking the field. We are physically invisible.
Congrats to FReepers gathering at state capitals at noon.
Ping Jim. They are swamped with freepathon is the only delay for response. Maybe he is on the night board.
Here is a question you can ask the gun grabbers. If an AR 15 is an assault rifle why doesn’t any military in the world use it?
They`re too stupid to know the difference, but good point.
I think it’s a great idea. Just need someone to take charge and get it going. How about you?
Couldn`t one of the Moderators set up a reference page? We could post Internet addresses for the various sites or groups as we find them so the Mods can then organize them by state. The state chapter`s members can then use that as some sort of master reference resource for activism by way of the state chapter page. We can also post threads linking to those sites or resources and/or asking for help as needed. Things such as phone or email efforts, protests, even monetary contributions to friendly politicians.
Its the clearing house of pro-2nd Amendment links and groups that we need, gathering the various friends and allies` contact information into a single data resource. A comprehensive list of people and groups who also support and are fighting for the 2nd that we as individuals and freepers can then network with, here AND beyond this website.
Bump this thread to the top.
