So ends what could be my final Canteen Jukebox 'lil Buckaroos. It's bittersweet. For those prayer warriors among you I am eternally grateful, you have lifted me up through three years of living Hell. For those wondering what I'm talking about I'll say this:

In April of 2010, I was arrested and jailed, charged with two first degree felony counts that could result in 40+ years in the state penitentiary, two life sentences at my age. The false allegations have cost me my career, my retirement, my finances and my reputation. Worst of all, I haven't seen my son Michael in almost three years (he's now seven) due to my indicted felon status. My impending trial has cost me everything and the court has been kicking the can for over a year as Discovery evidence that I've been railroaded continues to accumulate and the prosecutor has objected constantly and waited for me to tap out and take one of the generous plea bargains (including the most recent single misdemeanor with no jail time). I think they've finally come to the conclusion that I will maintain my innocence no matter what.

With God's blessing and the help of Friends and FReepers, I've managed to survive at great cost to many and maintained my innocence when I've been told I'm crazy for not taking a deal and getting on with my life. This coming Tuesday is (hopefully) my final pre-trial hearing for motions and rulings and the following Tuesday (January 29) the trial is scheduled to begin with jury selection and run at least three days. These dates have come and gone 4 times previously over the past year, but I feel this time everything is in place and it's finally going to happen, or I would not speak now. I'm confident that I will be found not guilty by a fair jury of my peers, but I've learned the hard way that our legal system is badly broken and the "seriousness of the allegations" are enough to ruin your life. Anything can happen in a trial and I'm prepared for the worst as I hope for the best. In the judge's words, I'm rolling the dice.

Because the unthinkable is possible (The Bible is filled with innocent men in prison), I think it's unfair to just disappear without a public explanation to my FRiends. For the next two week-ends I won't be able to be here because of all the preparation necessary. If I return in February we can celebrate, if not, I ask your continued prayers for my son Michael. If the songs are really over, I've designated some trusted FRiends to let you know the rest of the story, but with God's help and a fair jury I'll be back to tell it myself.

For now goodnight and God bless - it's not goodbye unless that's our Lord's will.
