RIVERDALE Pictures of a man carrying a rifle inside a big box store in Riverdale are raising a lot of eyebrows. The woman who took them tells KSL the man had no business bringing the gun where he did.
It was supposed to be just a regular trip to the JC Penney. Wednesday night, Cindy Yorgason was in line to return something when she saw a man with some pretty heavy fire power.
"He had the assault rifle over his shoulder," Yorgason said. "He had a handgun on the right side of his belt along with at least one additional clip."
She got out her phone after she said "a couple of other customers started to raise their eyes and look at this guy like, Is he crazy?'"
She never felt threatened, but she believes a place like JC Penney is an inappropriate place to bring a weapon.

They don't need it. They are perfectly willing and capable of making up whatever they want. They've done it often enough that this is no longer a "theory".
CC or Open. It's an Individual Right. If you business is open to the public, there are some things you are just going to have to allow your patrons to do...
It's free security for your store. You should offer a discount.
He should say he is “An Artist.” I keep hearing the purpose behind “Art” is to “raise questions”.
when I grew up 50 years ago you did not see folks walking into stores carrying long arms period unless they were buying them or getting them worked on
a handgun open carry occasionally but most folks concealed carry
what you did see was kids carrying sporting guns into dorms and guns on racks in trucks even in high school parking lots and just around all the time...in Dixie where I grew up
so I can see why folks would notice...not saying to outlaw it but it will draw attention which i guess was his motive
i woulda paid attention to him for sure...you just don't know...could be a nut...could be a point maker
i think a march to DC with 5-10 million folks carrying firearms would make a big statement
but I would still watch that dude were I in that store
With this- and worse happening every day, maybe we all need to carry rifles around with us:
(Video, feral Amish beats woman and throws her onto subway tracks. Police did not report)
Just an observation. Did anyone but me notice the beer ad on the umbrellas? No?
Probably the best beer in the world.
Those Isralies are kinda understated aren’t they? Here it would be Greatest beer in the world. Or, Greatest beer in the universe.
Well, I thought it was kinda interesting. Carry on...
But that is not what you said - you equated public (government owned) buildings with private property.
Some people here seem to overlook that fact and in so doing will incur MORE restrictions than if they would use some common (or uncommon) sense.
Not necessarily. In fact, in recent years, laws in regard to where concealed and open can be carried have been eased in some states because of such actions.
Why give the other side more ammunition to bring more restrictions and more gun-free zones?
I have no problem with any private business making their own choices on this - I do not wish for the government to force such a choice on them.
CCW will protect you and others and the store from acting on a situation that some people created.
Not if you are not permitted, even with a CCW, to carry on certain premises. I remember when VA changed the law regarding concealed carry and locations where it would now be permitted to include churches. The Pastor brought it up at a Vestry meeting as to whether or not a policy should be adopted. One senior member just looked at her and simply stated "You do not want to go there." She looked around at the others and that was the end of that topic.
Personally, I do not carry (except on my own property for critter control) as I do not feel myself proficient enough yet to do so, but I know lots of folks who do - including open carry where it is permitted.
In my opinion, the only reason such a big deal is being made about this is because of the idiots in the news media - for all anyone knows, this guy does this on a daily basis and it is only because of one hysteric that anyone even paid it any bit of attention.
I saw the beer as being a "foreign" one - Karlsberg - Danish. As I recall, it certainly tasted good at the brewery.
Just sayin'.
Yea.
Excuse me sir(talking to me) Excuse me sir! Is that your
M-4 or are you just glad to see me???

Good thing Musket Morgan doesn’t shop at that JC Penney, he would have crapped his pants and passed out.
Muzzle down.
Agreed!!
You are wrong on this one Bob, “extreme”, “well thought out”. It is not extreme, and, if you choose to speculate, I will speculate that he has thought this through for some time, before actually doing it.
No, force each and everyone of them to take a stand, publicly. So all can see who are the supporters and who are not. No more closets!!
BINGO!! It would no longer be a problem!
Are you serious?!!
How do you/we know what he was thinking?
Are you implying that if a shooter was aiming a gun at the man standing next to him, Mr yellow shirt won't protect him? Mr yellow shirt will only react when a gun is pointed at him? really?
Come to think of it, the PD hasn’t sent an officer to our meetings since! ;-)
You’re talking about LAWS. I’m talking about RIGHTS.
RIGHTS cannot be taken away, even if misguided politicians want to compose LAWS to attempt to do so.
I have the RIGHT to keep and bear arms. That supersedes ANY LAW that a politician can write.
You want to call me in violation of that LAW for exercising a RIGHT, by all means do it, but RIGHTS are inviolable. LAWS can be broken.
