(Reuters) - New Jersey Republican Governor Chris Christie harshly criticized the National Rifle Association on Thursday for referring to U.S. President Barack Obama's children in an ad that advocates putting armed guards in schools, calling it "reprehensible" and "wrong."
"I think it's awful to bring public figures' children into the political debate," Christie said at a press conference in Trenton, New Jersey.

NJ’s Governor Capo Christie is again letting his mouth overload the other extemities of his body!
Why did he think he had to weigh in on this issue? Does Christie really think he brings something to the table?
His weight
Exactly.
And CC doesn't see the double standard in his senseless rant. Amazing.
ann coulter used to salivate over him in years past - wonder what she thinks of him now.
bit obama using kids as ptops is OK in his book? I hope he runs as a D.
Tubby Turncoat is clearly irrational
Hell, why not? Obama used Doughboy himself as a prop after Hurricane Sandy. Christie is one of the Dems most useful idiots.
Remember when Christie said ...What the Hell are we paying you for?.. Obama is a president who is a bystander in the Oval Office ..
It was November 2011 regarding the debt limit and Obamas aloofness...life of parties and golf
So now Christie is acting like the rest of the gate keepers ... protecting Obama and the progressive globalist agenda.
...but it's A-OK for Obama to bring other peoples' children into it?
You ignorant hypocrite!
CC’s claim to fame was barking at union members...
How the heck did he parlay that into THIS?
I for one am sick of hearing him yammer about everything under the sun - and Annie Coulter is delusional.
While he and his family enjoy state police protection at my expense, no doubt - glad I’ll have a chance to vote against him in the primary and the general if needed......
You can be sure Christie has emotional issues, which is obvious with his weight. A morbidly obese, young, otherwise healthy person, such as Christie can not be trusted. They are miserable, manipulative, angry people.
Typical vintage Christie - his mouth running off before his brain is in gear.
How I hate this state - broodery of leftist swine like this.
As another poster noted, I wouldn’t be surprised if this jerk ran again as a Democrat. It is rumored he thought of turning coat before.
But most Jersey Republicans are a viperous breed, more like Democrats than Republicans.
Christie can kiss my lily white ... I will NEVER vote for him.
: ) apologies to Lou. Thanks.
Honorable Governor Christie,
“I think it’s awful to bring public figures’ children into the political debate,” Christie said at a press conference in Trenton, New Jersey.”
Do you feel the same way about Obama using children to advance his own gun control initiative?
Of course you don’t. Because you are an embarrassing buffoon.
Up yours fat marxist newcomer.
Look at a picture of Governor Christie’s ass and you will see the future of the GOP.
After 11/2012, I am an ex-lifelong Republican. The party is no longer the loyal opposition and a graceful loser, it is as evil as the Democrats/liberals and deserves no loyalty. We conservatives need to form a new, conservative, family friendly, God-fearing party to take back what was once the USA and its territory. All not with us are the enemy, foreign and domestic. Each of us must work to protect our family and prepare to defend ourselves and our loved ones from tyranny and oppression.
"I think it's awful to bring public figures' children into the political debate," Christie said at a press conference at Burger King in Trenton, New Jersey.
"To talk about the president's children or any public officer's children who have - not by their own choice, but by requirement - to have protection, to use that somehow to try to make a political point is reprehensible," Christie said, unwrapping a Triple Whopper with Cheese Meal.
"I think any of us who are pumblc figrs, you see tht ad and you cringelmff," said Christie, who is considered a possible Republican presidential contender in 2016.
"It's wrng and I thmmk it dmeansthm and it makes thm less of a vld trsted srrrce of [indistinct] on the real issues that cnfront this debate," Christie remarked emphatically, slurping a milkshake and dabbing at a bit of ketchup on his shirt.
After the press conference, Christie was overheard asking a member of the White House Press Corps whether he would be able to take a bundle of flowers and a bottle of wine over to the White House.
