Up to 50-80% of all guns in circulation could be covered
Press reports now make it clear what Vice President Joe Bidens gun control package will look like. Biden wants to impose:
* A Feinstein-like semi-auto ban which, according to experts who have done the counting, could ban up to 50% of all long guns currently in circulation and up to 80% of all handguns. Incidentally, if you wanted to keep the AR-15 you currently have, you would have to have a 6-month FBI background check, be fingerprinted, and get a machine gun-type license.
* The framework for national gun registration and confiscation by requiring every gun transaction to have a Brady Check.
* Supposed toughening of anti-gun trafficking measures, but without doing anything about the man responsible for allowing more gun trafficking than any other American -- Attorney General Eric Holder (with his Fast and Furious program).
Let us backtrack and explain a couple of things: Increasingly ATF is going into gun dealers and xeroxing all of the 4473s. This is illegal under McClure-Volkmer, but, in case you hadnt noticed, Obama is increasingly ignoring the law when it inconveniences him.
Thus, if every gun transaction in America must have a Brady Check, every gun in America could presumably be fed into a national registration system by ATF by simply copying the 4473s.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo - a man who gives you a pretty good idea of where gun control is going - said, on the front page of the New York Times, that confiscation of firearms is an option. Obviously, having a registration list makes such a task much easier.
But what about so-called large-capacity magazines? Well, Republicans like Georgias Phil Gingrey have talked about the possibility of banning them. However, there are many problems with this.
First of all, millions of gun owners own these magazines for defensive purposes. To take away a homeowners right to choose these devices will simply make honest citizens less safe -- especially, when they are facing multiple attackers.
Moreover, police have sometimes had to fire 20-30 rounds to finally stop just one drug-crazed individual from shooting. This just underscores why, quite often, good guys will need more than just six-shooters.
Second, there are tens of millions of high-capacity magazines in circulation. What are you going to do about them?
Third, changing magazines (or switching guns) is not a big deal for people like Adam Lanza.
Fourth -- and perhaps most important - this is a game the anti-gun zealots have played before: They threaten to kill the Second Amendment, and then negotiate their way back to merely eviscerating it.
Or put another way, they threaten to shoot us in the head to get us to agree to cutting off our fingers.
The only way that Americas gun owners are going to have peace over the next decade is to stop ALL gun control - as we did after Columbine - and then defeat compromising legislators running for reelection in 2014.
ACTION: Click here to contact your Senators and Congressmen. Demand that they oppose ALL gun control -- including magazine limitations and universal background (registration) checks -- being proposed by the Biden commission.
I hope you are right. I read the line you quoted and seriously could not envision any dealer I use allowing access to the 4473s in their possession. If you and I are wrong then we are very much screwed.

On another thread I was wondering what the possibility was of getting all FFL’s to destroy 4473’s en masse.
Biden Kiss my Butt!!!
The second time was by an acquantance at a party (also in North Dakota) who was drunk and became angry at his wife. He left the house we were at, went to his house a short distance away (with three of us following him), after threatening to go get his rifle and shoot his wife. He went into his bedroom to obtain the rifle, closing the door behind him. The three of us tried to talk him out of the room, with me standing dead center to the door, and the other two flanking the door in front of me. The individual quickly threw open the door and the rifle preceeded him, with the barrel directly aimed at my face. I turned to the side, grabbed the rifle by the upper stock, and pulled it out of his grasp. The rifle was loaded and off safety. That was a close call.
I don’t want to be a martyr but my doc also said I have about a ten year span left, that was last year, so the clock is ticking. I am not moving anywhere else so that avenue is out. Back someone into a corner with no escape and the result is not pretty for anyone. That is all I intend to say on this subject.
That would be a hard sell. While depriving Them of the info contained on the forms, the FFLs would be subject to serious felony charges for not keeping them available for 20 years. All BATFE would have to do is ask to see them...even just have the box opened to confirm their existence. Or have a warrant ready that was obtained under the pretense of suspecting they'd been destroyed. Most judges would go along with that.
Just wishful dreaming I guess....

Hmmm. In 1777, this gun was capable of firing 16 or 20 balls in 5 seconds. That seems to blow a hole in the libtard argument that the 2A was written within the context of guns capable only of firing single rounds.
Probably the same thought that crossed a number of minds when a plan was hatched to dump a million dollars worth of tea into the harbor that sits a mere 30 miles from where I sit.
Haha, I like that! Give me the porn ammo! The stuff on stripper clips!
The Second Amendment was put in place specifically so the public at large could protect itself from a tyranny that develops at the Federal level. There is no moral justification for tolerating the removal of that safeguard by the very offices the safeguard was intended to stop.
I will fully support any honorable resistance - in any honorable form - to the disarming of the public.
I think this is a trend we need to encourage, get behind and support, eh?
We should also encourage gun makers to move to Texas.
Anything made in the state and sold in the state being beyond the regulation of any authority but Texas.
Wow. The cooler head prevailed and everyone got out alive. It was a good day.:)
Well Cerebus is looking to sell off The Freedom Group.
We’ll takem all!
Yet another good reason for you to be so glad you moved from NY!
FOTFLOL!!!!
