Nearly three thousand U.S. college students went online in the search for a 'sugar daddy' to fund their education last year.
Georgia State University and New york University were the top two schools for female students to seek out men willing to fund their tuition, with Pennsylvania's Temple University following closely behind for third place.
According to the website SeekingArrangement.com, 2012 saw a 58per cent growth in female students signing up to be 'sugar babies,' which the site describes as 'attractive, intelligent, ambitious and goal oriented' women seeking 'financial pampering.'

The Euros are actually quite civil about the whole thing and there is a certain etiquette about the whole thing and the relationship is mutually beneficial to all parties involved.
It's pretty obvious what the man gets out the deal and he is supposed to be very discrete so as not to embarrass his wife, the young lady gets security, stability, an eduction and access to upper levels of society and other opportunities that never would have been available to her, and the wife maintains her position and that of the children as the mans wife without having to worry that he will leave her for a younger woman, as is very common in the US.
Overall, a remarkably workable way to do things that works for everyone involved.
In contrast, the whole Sugar Daddy thing is pretty crass and unappealing.
It's a pure business transaction with little or no pretense at a relationship like the European model. There is even the potential of signing a contract of sorts which would be an interesting document to review to learn what is spelled out.
Not exactly my cup of tea, but at least it precludes a palimony suit. Think of it as a pre nuptial agreement that dispenses with the inconvenience of actually having to get married.
For the gold digger demographic, it's very economical and efficient because she can just pocket the cash that otherwise would have been wasted on an expensive wedding.
Why not criticize the women who took him up on it? After all, they traded their virtue for a debt free education, lots of money, living in luxury, and a very good high paying job right out of college.
Why, they were just disgusting whores, as their virtue was worth much, much more than that. They could have been deeply in debt along with their young husband, have slaved for years at low level jobs, if they could get them, putting off comfort and children which they could not afford until their 30’s or 40’s, if they were still young enough to have them.
But they would still have their precious virtue, instead of degrading themselves for material gain and an easy life.
Well, I think it is sad that you view this European model as so civilized. Yes, we Americans have been so silly with our sexual mores, but, don’t worry, that trend has shifter greatly so that now the tramps outnumber the decent women.

There is history here.
Until very recently, many marriages were arranged by families for men and women who may or may not even known each other, much less cared for each other in order to cement business or social ties with bonds of blood.
On the other hand, the mortality rate for men was astronomical due to wars, disease and dangerous work.
In many cases, a man's mistress was a woman with children who was widowed when her husband was killed in battle or some accident and who had very few options.
The wife from the arranged marriage was the female head of the household and stayed that way, and kept the strategic relationship intact. She probably also had a few male friends on the side as well.
Not judging good bad or otherwise, just making a comment on how different cultures do things a bit different.

My wife comes from a third, equally time honored Scotts/Irish back round tradition where if she catches me indulging either of the above options she would cut my n*** with a dull rusty blade, shoot me in the knee caps, watch me bleed to death, have me cremated and then flush my ashes down the toilet.
