R'n'B-pop diva Beyonce Knowles, "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson and Grammy Award-winning artist James Taylor are just some of the artists tapped by re-elected U.S. president Barack Obama to perform the country's most patriotic songs during his upcoming inauguration ceremony on January 21. Beyonce is chosen to deliver the U.S. national anthem "The Star Spangled Banner", Kelly is selected to sing "My Country 'Tis of Thee" and James is invited again to perform "America the Beautiful".

I will not watch....
Yup, Kelly switched from Ron Paul. Go figure?
Frame all this anti-2nd banter as “Radical left wing extremists agenda”. Stop the BORV’s. (Bill of Rights Violators!)
And he will take the oath using two Bibles — Lincoln’s and MLK, Jr.’s. No Koran, because Islam permits takkiya.
I’m hoping for a marathon of something like The Walking Dead.
Probably will pop in some “I Love Lucy” dvd’s. Much better viewing and a sight funnier than what will be going on in D.C. that morning. Or, since the 21st is a holiday, I’ll probably still be in the rack sawing logs.
I’m sure it’s because all of the uneducated, racist, obama voters are going to rush right out and buy her music. WTH is wrong with her? She will be turning off a large segment of her music—I hope they fluch her down the toilet now.
Well, it is in the nature of people to ally with the strong.
When it comes to it, you are either with them, or against them.
It’s hard for me to understand why anyone would ally with republicans or even the right as they have showed nothing but weakness. They will lose.
Who wants to be on the losing team, I wonder?
I would rather think of it terms of which side is right and which wrong.
An ethical person stands on the side of righteousness, or as close to righteousness as is reasonable. The reasoning you present as normative is unethical and based merely on the moment.
Kelly Clarkson did not ask. She was sent an official invitation. You really can’t say no. I know in the military that if you receive an invitation to the White House, you WILL go. It is mandatory. Although Kelly is not in the military, I don’t think saying no to a formal invitation is a good idea. It is actually rude to decline an invitation to the White House. Remember it is the office, not the person. I was part of the Inauguration of President Clinton’s 1996 Inaugural and went to the Inaugural Balls....That is what military folks do.
The Dixie Chicks were the last “country” singers to be hurt by their political statements. We were in a war that the public supported and they smeared the president on foreign soil.
This won’t hurt Clarkson. As I understand it Faith Hill and Tim McGraw are pretty left leaning and it hasn’t hurt them. I also heard Brad Paisley’s wife is a lefty. Personally, I couldn’t stand living with a one.
Watch the inauguration, there will be plenty of walking dead...
Clarkson endorsed Obama before the election, because of his support of homosexual marriage.
Or better get, if the weather cooperates, I won't stay home.
Especially when you're very likely going to get a healthy fee from the gig. As much as anything, it's probably a business decision.
Gay marriage is clearly the most pressing matter for our country. /s
Good point.
Who wants to be on a team at all?
