A Democratic legislator in Iowa is startling citizens with his most recent proposal: ban the sale of semi-automatic weapons, and confiscate them from existing gun owners if need be.
Here is an excerpt from Iowa’s Daily Times Herald, which conducted the interview with State Rep. Dan Muhlbauer:
In an interview, a fiery Muhlbauer said it is time to act with “radical changes” on gun laws and other issues to protect schoolchildren from shooting sprees like the one last week in Newtown, Conn.
“We cannot have big guns out here as far as the big guns that are out here, the semi-automatics and all of them,” Muhlbauer said. “We can’t have those running around out here. Those are not hunting weapons.”
He added, “We should ban those in Iowa.”
Muhlbauer, who did not list the specific weapons he wants outlawed in The Daily Times Herald interview, said he would like to see the ban implemented in a retroactive fashion.
“Even if you have them, I think we need to start taking them,” Muhlbauer said. “We can’t have those out there. Because if they’re out there they’re just going to get circulated around to the wrong people. Those guns should not be in the public’s hands. There are just too many guns.” [Emphasis added]

The Forefathers knew that one day we might have to start hunting tyrannical politicians. That’s what my “hunting” guns and mean looking black rifles are for.
That Iowa taxpayer leach can go stuff himself.

All these diparaging comments against these gun grabbing fascists are useless. His constituents need to start a RECALL movement against him IMMEDIATELY. He swore an oath to uphold the constitution which he now proposes to violate (multiple ammendments). He and any other elected officials who propose these laws need to be slapped upside the head by removing them from office.
All of these jackasses know why we have the 2nd amendment. They just pretend it is for hunting only.
You see, the progressives refuse to acknowledge the real meaning because they are the ones the framers were referring to that the guns were left in our hands to protect us from.
I wish people would quit arguing anything other than the real intent. You can see they are afraid to talk about the real intent of the 2nd amendment. SO MAKE THEM!

Was my same thought I have never used a rifle to hunt ducks and last time I checked a semi auto weapon is not an assault rifle!

Had a discussion with a friend the other day. He’s a proud Porsche owner. After pounding into his brain the difference between automatic and semi-automatic weapons, which wasn’t too easy, I told him a story. I had a friend in Milwaukee who took the body off of an old VW Beetle, and installed a fiberglass replica of a Porsche body. I asked my lib Porsche-owning friend, “Is that car a Porsche?”: “Of course not!” was his indignant reply. I then asked him, “Should we ban all VWs that have replica Porsche bodies on them?”
just how does he figure he is gonna be able to “take them” from their owners?

I say that just as the "Fairness Doctrine" was used by liberal/progressives to restrict the First Amendment without having to repeal it -- they enforced "fairness" by threatening to take the radio station owners' licenses
-- the liberals today are attempting to restrict the Second Amendment by flooding the nation of uninformed voters with screams of "assault weapons" hiding under beds and everywhere just waiting to shoot them. The gun-grabbers' aim is to have the power to take the guns and leave the Second Amendment.

sounds like my response to a guy who thought semi-autos and high capacity mags should be taken away because no one “needs them.”
i said “fine, lets go pull that big v8 out of your corvette, put in a 4cylinder, and restrict it to 55mph.. because no one ‘needs’ that much power in a car.”
This is NOT headed in a good direction. Wonder where the President is, who could go on National TV and calm the country down, oh wait...aw, skip it.
Mr. Muhlbauer, I suspect that if you come for peoples guns and ammo, in many states you are likely to get their ammo first.

So, I have started to reply in this manner:
Let me guess, he is going to send someone else to collect the guns?
None of these people ever volunteer themselves? Wonder why?
