MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. The images will be vivid, history will be haunting, ghosts will be everywhere.
This is Knute Rockne versus Bear Bryant, Touchdown Jesus versus Dreamland Bar-B-Que, Four Horsemen versus Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joe Montana versus Joe Namath, and, of course, in the battle of the little guys, Rudy versus Nick.
It will be a football game bathed in a complicated mess of legend, religion and roughhousing, but most folks think Monday's BCS national championship heavyweight fight between Alabama and Notre Dame can be symbolized by a single disparity.

BCS needs to be abolished
I fully expect a touchdown by Alabama within its first 5 offensive plays, and it will all go downhill from there for ND. Possibly ND will get the ball first and score first, getting everyone excited, only to give up 28 or more straight points. I hope its a good game at least but we’ve seen this before.
I also enjoy people who brag that they don't use Facebook or Twitter or MySpace, like their non-use of some dopey website merits a rousing hurrah of accolades.
The big winner will be ESPN!
Notre Dame is something like 2-10 over their last dozen bowl games. Expect that record of futility to continue.
Woooooooooooooooop!
I hope not! Notre Shame needs to be humiliated.

Sorry, but the 1992 Sugar Bowl has that beat. BAMA V. Miami. George Teague chasing down Lamar Thomas and taking the ball away from him was the greatest play I ever saw.
If not THE greatest, it's damned sure right up there next to whatever IS the greatest !
There's ALWAYS one or two like you on the thread. It's as expected as Obama lecturing us on the constitution. I chalk it up to the same narcissism for being heard...even when you've nothing to say...
This is Alabama and the SEC against most of the rest of the nation. Against the ESPN Notre Dame Network, all the eastern and Midwestern and left coast writers and followers of the Irish. I agree it is a big game for Bama. Notre Dame has beaten them in two close bowl games in years past. Texas also had that on Bama. But, Bama took out Texas and now looks to do it to ND. Bama has many players that will be in their 3d BCSNC game and ND has none. Experience to Bama.
I liked the 1973 Sugar Bowl better and watched it in person.
Best team right now is Texas A & M. If Alabama beats Notre Dame then Texas A & M should finish #2.
Roll Tide...
34 - 13? Wasn’t even a close game.
“OTOH, a humiliation might shut up their fan base for another couple of years, but its doubtful. hasnt worked before.”
Yeah, it’s never worked for the Aggies, either. Darn the luck.
