It took two and a half years, but Port Colborne, Ont., resident Ian Thomson is finally done defending himself. First he fought the men who tried to murder him. Then, his own government.
Mr. Thomson had long been involved in an increasingly angry property dispute with his neighbour. Early one August morning in 2010, four masked men shouting death threats began hurling firebombs at Mr. Thomsons home. One of his pet dogs was injured; several fires in and around his home were set.
Mr. Thomson, an experienced firearms instructor, called 911 immediately. He also armed himself with a .38 calibre revolver, stepped outside his home and fired three shots one into his lawn, and two into a stand of trees. His attackers fled, and were later arrested. All four pleaded guilty to arson and disregard for human life, and were sentenced to between two and three years in prison.
So ended the first threat against Mr. Thomson. The next began immediately thereafter.

Canada Ping!
Ya know.....generally speaking, I like the Canucks.....decent folks; basically our northern kin.
But damn.....they are SOOOOOO eaten up with liberalism/socialism and political correctness it turns the stomach.
I won’t even go into the “discussion” of our 2nd Amendment I had in Fredericton, New Brunswick one evening over dinner in a private home; myself vs. 4 Canucks. My God, they thought I was the knuckle-dragger from Hell........
There are several biometric or quick button safes out there.
Access is under 2 seconds.
Having said that, laws that restrict access to this extent must be stopped before they start.
I am under no obligation to be a victim.
Hard for anyone to really criticize Canadian and provincial justice system when in my US and Florida county....we are doing the same with George Zimmerman in his self defense case......and he is being kangarooed by so called Conservative GOP
Kafkaesque !

You have no idea how correct you are abut this. Try having to deal with them overseas. The most repugnant group of whiney mouthed pc robots you can imagine. Their jealousy of America is unbelievably tangible.

Yes, 2 seconds if you are standing ready, right next to the safe. Then, in Canada, your ammunition has to be accessed and loaded into the firearm. The firearm cannot be loaded in the safe and the ammunition must be stored separately.
In this case, it took a full minute for the experienced firearm instructor to access his guns and load them. That is why the court did not prosecute him.
Consider that: A full minute while under firebomb attack. Total insanity. This is what the Democrats want for us.
>>But damn.....they are SOOOOOO eaten up with liberalism/socialism and political correctness it turns the stomach.
But not so Socialist/Marxist they have an inheritance tax!
You are absolutely correct about Frederictoon, I live there. Look, there still are folks in the Fredericton Area who hold the correct view, and they can be found here:
If you are ever in the area and want to put a few rounds down range, let me know.
While on vacation in SW Florida my wife and I met some vacationers from Germany. We had them over to eat lunch and spend the afternoon with us.
They seemed like nice people, when we started talking about guns in the US. They started telling us how in the US people can actually carry a weapon concealed and you wouldn’t even know it. They would know it though because they can tell a gun nut from a mile a way they told us. When I asked how they could tell they explained several things of a very derogatory nature. I acted as though I was really being enlightened.
They would have just had heart attacks if they knew my wife and I were both carrying and always do.
They’re a buncha Dumb Funucks.
Appreciate the kind offer....very much. Haven’t been up there in some years; that was back in my consulting days (primary client was a small tech firm in Freddie).
