Clinton soars, Palin plummets in most-admired survey

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sets a record in Gallup’s annual most-admired survey, while Sarah Palin falls farther off the popularity radar.

Gallup has run its most-admired man and woman survey since World War II, and in the 2012 edition, Clinton and President Barack Obama kept their top positions among those asked a simple question: “What man that you have heard or read about, living today in any part of the world, do you admire most? And who is your second choice?”

Clinton was named as most-admired woman for the 17th time since she became a national figure in 1992. Eleanor Roosevelt held the previous record when she was named 13 times as the most-admired woman.

In 2012, Palin had just 2 percent of the polling, finishing in a fifth-place tie. Clinton had 21 percent, followed by First Lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Condoleezza Rice.

Palin does more to move the nation right since President Reagan, she loads the Governorships, Senate, and Congress with many more conservatives than ever, and all you can do is complain about her? You have a mystifying agenda in my book.

Palin is the most influential republican in America and has done more to shape the Congress, the Senate, and the Governorships in her own image, than any politician that I am aware of, in all of American history.

Oh. When you (post 19) wanted her to run for the Democrat Senate seat, it appeared you wanted her to run as a Democrat.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I'm not complaining. I was hoping she'd run, but she didn't.

I'm just saying that she can't play from the sidelines forever.

Unless you think that she can become the next Valerie Jarrett once she finds the right puppet, I'd rather see her get her hands dirty and get back into the mix.

You know what's really at stake, right? It's about the title of "First Woman President."

The Democrats wanted it to be Hillary, but Benghazi is threatening that if Hillary winds up with the blood of Chris Stevens on her hands.

The Democrats have a long history of doing whatever it takes to ensure that the claim to "First..." falls only to Democrats.

Thanks for clearing that up.

What did I clear up?

You're the one who took a simple mis-reading (barely) of a post and then launched into derision against me, with claims of medication-misuse and derangement.

Instead of thanking me, I was hoping for an apology.

Reagan Lost Twice and didn't run in 1972. By that logic he never should have tried in 1980 because the last time around the GOP gave him the boot and yet he persisted.

He made the case for Conservatism which is what Sarah is doing now.

Yet another bull sh$t poll.

Umm....

1) The poll wasn't limited to Freepers

2) FReepers comprise .0000 (you do the math) percent of the population of the country.

3) How does the fact that Palin is much more popular than Hillary on FR prove the poll wrong?

While there are methodological issues with how Gallup conducts this poll, it undoubtedly reflects reality.

What I've discovered over the years is people refuse to believe that ANY opinion they have is in the minority. That is, if a poll comes out where their personal view is in the minority in the poll, it's "proof" the poll is wrong. Is it some sort of ego/insecurity thing where people can't stomach the thought that they are in a minority?

Out here in the real world, anecdotally, Hillary is enormously popular, and the vast majority of the population either actively hates Palin, or doesn't take her seriously.

A couple months ago I was having a conversation with a co-worker (defense industry, he's a former particle physicist, he's a Republican, voted Republican for President from Reagan through McCain) who thought I was pulling his leg when I told him I read a message board where a bunch of people want Palin to run for President - he thought it was a joke.

No. By that logic, Palin - like Reagan before her - should get back in the race.

Interestingly, I believe that Palin and Ferraro had equivalent resumes.

Ferraro was a lawyer and DA, then a 3-term Congresswoman before being nominated as Walter Mondale's VP candidate.

Palin was a city councilwoman and mayor, state commissioner and governor, before being nominated as John McCain's VP candidate.

Furthermore, Ferraro ran twice for the Senate and lost both times in the primary. Palin has yet to try for the Senate, but has already won a state-wide race once.

And yet, the Democrat Ferraro is afforded all the accolades while Republican Palin is mocked.

You just flat out aren’t paying attention, not to our posts, not to politics and Palin’s influence and leadership, nor to anything else that could help you understand that Palin is the most influential republican in America, and the most powerful endorsement in history.

I don’t know what you get from this childish game of bashing Palin, but it sure is silly, even troll like as it seems to consist of baiting and nonsense.

Palin needs to pick a time, and get back in the game.

She is laying low now, but the media has her in their sights. If she doesn’t make some moves, eventually she will lose.

We do not want her to lose.

Sarah. I understand (I think) your reluctance. But really, get with it.

America needs someone like you.
