Clinton soars, Palin plummets in most-admired survey

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sets a record in Gallup’s annual most-admired survey, while Sarah Palin falls farther off the popularity radar.

Gallup has run its most-admired man and woman survey since World War II, and in the 2012 edition, Clinton and President Barack Obama kept their top positions among those asked a simple question: “What man that you have heard or read about, living today in any part of the world, do you admire most? And who is your second choice?”

Clinton was named as most-admired woman for the 17th time since she became a national figure in 1992. Eleanor Roosevelt held the previous record when she was named 13 times as the most-admired woman.

In 2012, Palin had just 2 percent of the polling, finishing in a fifth-place tie. Clinton had 21 percent, followed by First Lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Condoleezza Rice.

From Akins to Dewhurst, and Pete Hegseth, Perry met with no success in Senate endorsements, in fact, he met with terrible and damaging embarrassment

...because Texas conservatives see Perry, Dewhurst and their ilk as the statist frauds they are. Palin merely helped make it official by endorsing Cruz.

Fifth place is not all that bad, considering SP has all but retreated and the others hold the highest office & position of all women around the globe, thanks to marrying presidents and, or being a media billionaire, with teams of consults & media making them appear accomplished, brilliant and terribly special 24/7.

Ick.

There is an old expression from WW-2.

"Flying under the radar."

She may be out of sight, but she is still exerting tremendous influence in certain quarters.

Governor Sarah Palin has not been in the spotlight too much in 2012 so it really doesn’t surprise me that she fell some. Although still in the top 5 even with 2 percent is still in the top 5. Not horrible...

I turned off the news after the Marxist’s reelection and I haven’t watched much since. The entire fiscal cliff was a complete turn-off, so I didn’t engage in that either.

It’s up to our TEA Party to save what’s left of our Republic. I’m still willing to fight, but even I need a break from these spineless moderates and TV talking heads.

Free Republic and my books are Sanity Island.

Right now, Palin just speaks for herself. To be relevant, she needs to convince a few million people to vote for her again, and then get into a federal body where she can deliver directly.

Sarah Doesn't need to be in no Damn Federal Position to achieve anything.

Don't fall into the Trap that only being in Government can you be successful.

Reagan ran for president THREE Times.

You never heard people on our say in 2000, "McCain had his shot, he can't never run again"

It must be cause he isn't a Conservative.

I guess even some Conservatives think that our people should only have one shot.

"Flying under the radar." Indeed

Democrat Senate Seat? Better check your medicine schedule. Your PDS is flaring up.

What are you talking about?

Mark Begich (D-AK) is up for reelection in 2014.

Reagan ran for president THREE Times.

That's right. That's my point - he ran.

What did you hear from Reagan before he won?

Nothing more than that.

I don’t recall Governor Perry telling Sarah Palin to get the heck out of Texas.

I doubt he made a statement to that effect directly. I don't doubt that he had his staff carry the message to Palin to butt out for his buddy Dewhurst's sake. Ol' Rick may be a slippery weasel prone to gaffs on stage but he ain't that stupid.

The key point here is that Palin's endorsement was the critical turning point that turned Dewhurst's "slam dunk" for the senate into a Cruz victory. Texas Tea Party conservatives know the real deal when they hear one.

That is a weird post, if you really cared what Ted Cruz's opinion was about his own race, you would know what he says about it.

Ted Cruz credits Palin with his shocking win over Dewhurst.

Perry endorsed Dewhurst who was the automatic winner of course, at least, until he lost to Palin's candidate.

Palin also gave us our only Senate pick up, with Deb Fischer over Senator Bob Kerry in Nebraska.

"Poll: Rick Perry’s endorsement is a net minus for Dewhurst, Palin’s is a plus for Cruz"

"Texas' Biggest Loser In GOP Senate Race? For Rick Perry, The (Tea) Party's Over"

""Call it the Sarah Palin bounce: Hours after the 2008 vice presidential nominee endorsed Ted Cruz, a Republican candidate for U.S. senator from Texas, on Thursday morning, the staff at Cruz's headquarters in Austin reported a swift and positive reaction.
Campaign manager John Drogin confirmed by email to Yahoo News that Palin's endorsement "has added HUGE buzz to our campaign."
"Phones are ringing, online contributions are pouring in, and supporters are more excited than ever on our social networks," Drogin wrote, adding that he's seen a "flood" of donations but has yet to tally them.""

“”Sarah Palin might have been sitting out this year’s Republican National Convention, but that does not mean that she has been forgotten by the party faithful in Tampa.
Especially not by Ted Cruz, who credits her endorsement with helping him beat Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in the race for the Texas GOP Senate nomination.
While speaking with POLITICO’s Mike Allen this morning, the Texas Republican Senate nominee called Palin’s endorsement “game-changing.”

“If you look at the senate races across the country this cycle and last cycle, Governor Palin has had a game changing impact one after the other,” explained Cruz. Palin endorsed Cruz, a Tea Party favorite who shares her philosophy of liberty and limited government, just days before a wide-open May 29 primary, helping to propel Cruz into a strong second place showing. The Cruz surge provided momentum for his runoff battle with Dewhurst.
(snip)
The Tea Party favorite admitted that many have referred to his victory as “improbable.” He told Allen that the reason why Palin’s endorsement has had such an enormous impact is because voters consider her a true barometer of conservatism.

“In a Republican primary, everyone claims to be conservative and voters are pretty cynical. They are tired of these candidates that sounds great on the stump. They say they are going to cut spending, they get into the office and they become spineless jellyfish,” Cruz said. “I think conservatives trust Sarah Palin that if she says this guy is a conservative, that he is a real deal.”””

Good Lord man, we don’t Romney to ever speak out again.

Pray that the Romney disaster has been limited to the damage that he has done already in his 20 year political life.

I know we have a history of "loser walks away," but we're also seeing a new history of "winner by 1 acts like winner by 100."

We have to use the coalitions we build, after all, look how many millions of campaign cash was spent on it. If that money were spent on building a factory, we wouldn't walk away from it if the market for the intended product collapsed (except for Solyndra, maybe), we'd keep the factory and repurpose it.

But we just walk away from hundreds of millions of dollars invested in a candidate, instead of using it as an investment to be built upon.

Sure, Romney isn't ideal, but he had the forum for awhile, and we could have used it to some effect.

My original point is still this: You're not relevant unless you are a player. Romney could still have been a player; he still had political inertia to leverage for some good for Republicans, but he chose to let it dissipate.

Palin's momentum has dissipated. She needs to build up new political capital.

It never happened... that's why! We have to start ignoring these people. Everyone is welcome to their opinion. We know that Sarah has helped the Conservative movement... I wish she had done more... we all do... but she has a plan and it is her life. These haters should be attacking obama... but Sarah is an easier target. GOD bless you onyx... I know that HE will.

As a Texan I’d take Palin over Perry any day. Perry was one of the many Texas democraps that switched parties when they saw the Reagan Revolution happening before their eyes.

Sure, Romney isn't ideal, but he had the forum for awhile, and we could have used it to some effect.

Romney did, to remind us that he wanted to homosexualize the military and the Boy Scouts, and to reject the party's pro-life platform and re-endorse his pro-abortion position, which he did after he won the nomination.

Palin led us to astounding victories in 2010, and had a great election 2 months ago, as the rest of the party went down in flames, and you think that she doesn't have more "political capitol" than anyone in the party?

Today's vote for Boehner demonstrates that she's just pissing in the wind right now getting people elected. Once elected, she's not there with them to keep their fortitude up when it counts. And she can't stop Boehner from removing conservatives from committees either, right?

What happens to Palin's "wins" if Boehner leads the Republicans to a Pelosi House in 2014?

I still say that she needs to get back in it directly. She needs to make law, not law-makers!
