All I can say is, like the announcer yesterday, Justice was served after the worst call ever seen by millions that was indisputable.
All three refs caught witnessing the theft should have already been fired today. Like politicians, they will likely never have to be held accountable for their actions.

I didn’t watch the game. What was the bad call?

I bleed maize and blue, I was born and raised on Michigan football and my son-in-law attends UofM, but even my husband, son-in-law and I agreed that the first down call that clearly wasn’t was a horrible call, and as we said after the HORRIBLE hit and fumble, “The ball don’t lie!!”

Had a Big Ten fan today try and tell me that Clowney led with his head and should have been ejected. I froze the video at point of impact. Textbook. Clowney’s head was up. Face mask buried in the runners chest. Arms locked up. Helmet never got above the pads of the rb.

The first down call was an abomination. The subsequent hit by Clowney was a helmet planted right on the UofM ballcarrier’s chin. I don’t think anyone would have held onto the ball after that hit.

That had to be one of the best hits/defensive plays I’ve ever seen!
Sadly, had it been the NFL, the guy probably would have been fined and suspended for a game or two.

What a crock this story is, sure the call was bad, justice was likely served, but when they got the ball back they didn't even score with their new possession, so what's the fuss all about?
And if the first call was bad (it appeared to be bad), why wasn't the helmet to helmet hit they're crowing about even worse? Last I heard that's a huge penalty.

Maybe because it wasn’t helmet to helmet.

It's possible it wasn't, but probable it was. I saw the video, I froze it, and it sure looks like it. It may not be conclusive, but how does a helmet pop off like that if he didn't hit it? Was the ref blind in reverse?
Besides, the bad call never impacted the game, so what's the big deal? The article claims it's some game changer, but it wasn't at all.

I saw what you saw. No mention if the other players chin strap was in place. You got to admit... with a name like, “JADEVEON CLOWNEY’... he is destined for the NFL. LOL!

Changed my mind after seeing more pictures of it, close up and other better angles. It was a first down. The mark wasn’t at the stick. It was at the end of the orange chain links that attach to the stick by a “dog latch.” The latch was the gap you see but it’s not part of the measurement.

As a lifelong Buckeye fan & grad, that was a nommy treat.
One of the worst calls we ever saw...followed by wonderful smackdown. The only thing better would have been if that michigan Charlie Weis Wannabe choked on a sideline ham sammich and took Michael Moore down with him.

Don't think I ever saw a shot perpendicular to the measurement. Always an angle so difficult to really see just where the tip of the ball was...
