After a long day of fiscal cliff chaos, the House will finally hold a vote tonight on the fiscal cliff bill passed by the Senate early Tuesday.
The decision to hold an up-down vote virtually guarantees passage of the bill, which would extend the Bush tax hikes for households earning under $450,000. that the bill will pass.
For most of the day, House Republicans have said that they could not support the bill without spending cuts, but by Tuesday night it was clear that GOP leaders could not come up with the votes to pass an amendment to add those cuts.
The House Rules Committee announced that there will be a vote on the unamended Senate bill in the 9 p.m. hour. Check out all of the days developments below.

and Boehner votes YES
Since we already went over the cliff it is, technically, a tax cut.
Dow and S&P futures are up.
Great news for middle class!
The middle class will benefit from Bush tax cuts made permanent, the AMT reformed and indexed to inflation permanently, estate tax indexed for inflation for upto $10 million, and for investors, the capital gains and dividend tax permanently set at 15% for incomes under $450k.
But there are ZERO spending cuts in this bill! That is bad!
The only thing the GOP could do now to make amends with its base is to dump boner, but that will never happen and boner and the GOP will eternally play the role of the Washington Generals vs the Harlem Globetrotters.
He says we've won part of the battle; now it's time to fight the rest of the way.
My SUPPOSEDLY “conservative” (I crack myself up) Senator, Pat Toomey, voted FOR the Bill in the Senate. I wasn’t as surprised as I am bitter...i think it’s just a special “club” and we work for THEM to get in (and forget us!)
“Ryan voted yes.”
He never will be taken seriously again.
What a joke he turned out to be.
Paul Ryan voted yes.
Marco Rubio voted NO.
Guess who I’m supporting for President in 2016?
What really bites is the tax goodies that hang in there like earmarks.
Taxes will go up 2% for everyone as the payroll tax was not included, and spending goes up.
Spineless - I’d love to hear why from Boehner
I just feel dirty...unclean.
I assume they raised the debt limit?
I was just thinking of ripping mine to shreds and sending it to either Boehner's office or the RNC.
“Norquist says permanent tax cuts (even though they are only allocated to the majority of the people) mark a victory for the GOP because the Dems had been against ANY Bush tax cuts for years.”
And so, Hitler thought Stalingrad was a victory?
I’m changing my party affiliation tomorrow to “Independent.” I hope there is a mass exodus from the Republican Party. I’ve been sh*t on for the last time.
And now federal revenues will plunge off the cliff as only idiots raise taxes during an economic slowdown. There was no extra money out there for the taking and everyone will now concentrate on preserving what little they have. We will be at a 2 trillion a year deficit by year end. That will be the end of America.
So basically in 2014 the Democrats will run on the Repubicans raising taxes.
Sweet! /sarc
