Andrew Jackson, Indian Fighter [Parallel with Democrat/Republican "negotiation"?]
A Patriot's History of the United States | 2004/2007 | Schweikart and Allen

For several generations, Europeans had encroached on Indian lands....exchanging treaty promises and goods for Indian land....But the continuous flow of settlers....caused the treaties to be broken, usually by whites, almost as soon as the signatures were affixed.

Reading this book today, I couldn't help but see the parallels between 19th century whites and 21st century Democrats.

Anyone else see what I am seeing?

(This is a great history book, by the way. Not as collegial as Paul Johnson's "A History of the American People", more of a high school level, but very enjoyable.)

Andrew Jackson should have been tried for treason along with Aaron Burr. Both were guilty of plotting to steal the Louisiana Purchase lands at gun point.

I couldn't help but see the parallels between 19th century whites and 21st century Democrats.

In the process of appropriating land, occasional injustices were committed by white settlers against Indians. These injustices, however, arose only in those isolated cases in which individual Indians could claim legitimate rights of private ownership which the white settlers violated, such as having established a farm which white settlers appropriated. There was no injustice present in the settlers disregarding the claims of the Indian tribes to political sovereignty over territory, nor in the disregarding the collectivist claims of the tribes to economic ownership. The claims to land ownership of the Indians were arbitrary and were made by barbaric governments of savages. The Declaration of Independence proclaimed that governments were instituted among men to preserve their natural rights and when they became destructive of those ends, they deserved to be overthrown.

The Rats, because of their hatred of the rich and love of socialism are violating the natural rights of the rich with confiscatory taxation and nationalization. And this is not deserved and is not justified by the Declaration of Independence.

Had the aborigines the technology they would have done the same or worse to the Old World. It doesn’t take me long to tire of this “noble redman” nonsense.

'were arbitrary and were made by barbaric governments of savages.'

Everything comes in cycles. In 25 years the barbaric governments will be in charge again.

It is a lesson in out-of-control illegal immigration.
