Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) on Sunday introduced a bill he said would “soften the landing” if the nation went over the “fiscal cliff.”
Manchin said his bill, the Cliff Alleviation at the Last Minute Act, — the CALM Act — would slowly phase in the tax rate increases and allow the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to propose substitute cuts to replace sequestration. Manchin’s proposal comes as lawmakers neared their year-end deadline to avoid January’s tax hikes and across-the-board cuts.
The OMB: doing the job the president and congress won’t do. Pray for America.

What I would give to have a few adults in Washington.

I am totally sick of the false bill names, I.e “Affordable Health Care act. There is nothing affordable about. Pure propaganda.
This whole ‘fiscal cliff’ crap was an UNDERSTOOD component of the last budget and debt ceiling debacle. It was put in place to afford added time to the Congress and the administration to craft a ‘solution’ to the chaotic state of the nation’s fiscal house.
However, rather than do the jobs they were elected to do, these educated idiots continued to kick the can down the road on fiscal matters, never mind the pending impacts of the earlier ‘deal’.
And, now, with the ramifications of the earlier deal bearing down on them, they want to kick the can, again.
Seriously...these people can’t be trusted to even keep their word among themselves.
The economy of this nation will collapse if drastic measures are not taken, very quickly. A good step toward correction is to allow the earlier agreement to be fulfilled. Force the spending cuts. Allow the tax increases. AND MAKE SURE EVERYONE KNOWS IT WAS ALL THE INCUMBENTS in the Congress, pubbies along with the socialists, who are responsible for the failure to address the most pressing issue facing this grand experiment.
I recall Obama sending budgets. They go down with no support. Reid is the problem and I am sure Obama is pushing him to be the problem.
Someone should citizen arrest that man at first chance. These assclowns need a wake up call.

Too late, Manchin. The CALM Act was already passed and went into effect a few weeks ago: the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act.

Bingo. The only one here facing a fiscal cliff is government itself. And Republicans will again line up to give their stamp of approval for another $2-3 trillion of newly printed money so that the Dems can win another election.
