11,001 if you count Bloomberg.
Read the caption and thought the Democrats were having another convention!
Never visited New York, never want to go.
Just a few weeks after a homeless man pushed a Korean immigrant in front of an oncoming subway train ( caught on camera and sold to the New York Post ), another similar incident occurred.

EXCERPT:
A woman suspected in the death of an immigrant who was pushed off a New York City subway platform has been ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
Erika Menendez, 31, was arraigned Saturday night on a charge of murder as a hate crime. She had told police she has hated Muslims since Sept. 11 and thought the victim was one. Judge Gia Morris ordered that Menendez be held without bail and be given a mental health exam.
Menendez is charged in the death of Sunando Sen, who was crushed by a train in Queens on Thursday night. Friends and co-workers said Sen, a 46-year-old Indian immigrant, was Hindu.
“I pushed a Muslim off the train tracks because I hate Hindus and Muslims ever since 2001 when they put down the twin towers I’ve been beating them up,” Menendez told police, according to the district attorney’s office.
“The defendant is accused of committing what is every subway commuter’s worst nightmare,” Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.
Menendez was incoherent at her arraignment in Queens criminal court, at one point laughing so hard that the judge told her defense lawyer, “You’re going to have to have your client stop laughing.”
Menendez admitted shoving Sen, who was pushed from behind, authorities said. She was arrested after a tip by a passer-by who saw her on a street and thought she looked like the woman in a surveillance video released by police.
There should be stricter regulations,
There were. They were, for the most part, institutionalized and medicated until the 80s, when the lib-dem morons/idiots/cretins/scumbags sued and got them released on to the streets. The cities have progressively turned into sewers, since. NYC & SF are wonderful examples.
If I called 911 every time I felt someone was dangerous I would be on the phone continuously. Most of all I want them to pick up Barack Obama and put him in a rubber room in a mental institution in some far-away country where we’ll never hear from him again.
Only 11,000?
Really? Who would have known. This article is rich with satire. lol
They have decided that the mentally ill can be trusted to take thier medication be put in an out patient program thru the jail system and the schools system and live amongst us. “They” are the feds who forced the states who forced the federally subsidized state agencies. Who pays in the end? Yet the scream gun control, instead of mental health control
hurry up and throw a concert
That's all?
Ciudad Juárez starting to look like a nice place...
I will be sure to stay out of the Big Apple
11,000?....
That’s just the staff at the NY Times....
“Homeless” is not the problem in itself .. The latest nutcase was living with her family, who was trying desperately to get her permanently or long-term hospitalized. The woman was bipolar, would flip out, and they or the police would bring her to the hospital - where, as one family member said, the doctors would give her a couple of pills and send her out again.
This article makes it sound as if only the homeless are being untreated, but that’s not true. It’s simply impossible to get someone committed until they have succeeded in killing some innocent person.
Sorry people, I LOVE that city. Their violent crime rate is lower than many states, much lower than Houston, and almost as low as Texas overall.
And I agree with the other guy - THE PIZZA IS GREAT!!!
I am inthe 4 train all the time and this article barely scratches the surface. Many many many crazies in the subways lately.
Wait, wasn’t there a movie called 10,000 Maniacs!?
“Nice little city ya got here, Bloomberg. It would be a shame if a bunch of loonies was ta ruin it. Me and the boys can fix this little problem for youse for the mere sum of $xzz billion.”
NYC hazards alert...
